I had to make the heartbreaking decision on Saturday to have Bubbles put to sleep and I am so, so sad about it.

We got Bubbles from a rescue centre in Bristol as a friend for our Guinea Thomas following the unexpected death of Thomas' brother Troy. Bubbles was about a year old when we got him, and had previously lived with his brother. They had been given to the rescue centre as unwanted pets and had been so neglected that Bubbles' brother had a terrible skin infection and had to go to a special centre for treatment. Bubbles and Thomas bonded straight away and lived very happily together for 2 years.

Last weekend Bubbles fell off of my daughter's lap and suffered a horrible spinal injury. He lost the use of his legs completely - my full post regarding this is on the Health and Illness board.

On Friday night he seemed a lot worse, and when I took him out to his run for some fresh air I noticed that his urine was very blood stained/he was bleeding from his bottom.

I took him to the Vet again on Saturday, and she advised me that the kindest thing to do was to put him to sleep.

I feel so upset and guilty about Bubbles, as it was an accident, so easily avoided and he was still young and enjoying life.

Run free at Rainbow Bridge Bubbles - we're so sorry that you fell, and suffered. Say hello to Thomas' brother Troy for us - he'll look after you.

x

So sorry for the loss of your special boy.

RIP Bubbles

oh this is really sad, i'm so sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry he didn't make it, it's tough making that decision but Bubbles will no longer be in pain.

Popcorn free Bubbles...Ron will look after you x

So very sad; as the song by the Band Perry says, "Who would have thought forever could be severed by the sharp knife of a short life?" At least most of this short life was one of love and caring. Do not feel guilty over what you had to do, and don't feel guilty about the accident, because, after all, it was an accident.

i am so sorry you are feeling the guilt we have all been there and all understand that you will and do, but it is totally unnecessary you gave the boy a lovely home and kept him safe from harm, the only reason he left you now is because Troy needed him more than you did, thats all...you helped him get there...only a loving mummy and sister could do that

Rip Bubbles, run free at the bridge x

So very sad 8...
So tragic but he'll recover at the bridge and be running free now forever x>> -
God bless you little man and stay safe, we all prayed hard you'd pull through :(

So sorry for the loss of your special boy.

Bubbles will be watching over you from the bridge.

Thinking of you.x

I am so sorry about that horrible freak accident! You must be all so upset about it! But you have taken the best of care of him under the circumstances; you can't prevent accidents from happening at all times.

RIP Bubbles

So sorry to hear your sad news. Rest in peace Bubbles. x

Oh my goodness... this story brought me to tears... I can only imagine how sad you are. I am very sorry for your loss, especially such a tragic accident... but you are a fantastic piggy mom for adopting him and giving him a good home! You made the right decision and now he is pain-free roaming the fields with his piggy friends, and unlimited hay as I would imagine.
Much guinea love.
xxxooo
