I had to make the heartbreaking decision on Saturday to have Bubbles put to sleep and I am so, so sad about it.
We got Bubbles from a rescue centre in Bristol as a friend for our Guinea Thomas following the unexpected death of Thomas' brother Troy. Bubbles was about a year old when we got him, and had previously lived with his brother. They had been given to the rescue centre as unwanted pets and had been so neglected that Bubbles' brother had a terrible skin infection and had to go to a special centre for treatment. Bubbles and Thomas bonded straight away and lived very happily together for 2 years.
Last weekend Bubbles fell off of my daughter's lap and suffered a horrible spinal injury. He lost the use of his legs completely - my full post regarding this is on the Health and Illness board.
On Friday night he seemed a lot worse, and when I took him out to his run for some fresh air I noticed that his urine was very blood stained/he was bleeding from his bottom.
I took him to the Vet again on Saturday, and she advised me that the kindest thing to do was to put him to sleep.
I feel so upset and guilty about Bubbles, as it was an accident, so easily avoided and he was still young and enjoying life.
Run free at Rainbow Bridge Bubbles - we're so sorry that you fell, and suffered. Say hello to Thomas' brother Troy for us - he'll look after you.
