COVID-19 Self isolation - again!

@Sar I'd said the person from the CQC that they could go ahead with getting in touch, but just to mention I'd gone to the CQC before I spoke to the practice manager yesterday. the CQC said they don't investigate complaints (which isn't what I wanted from them anyway) but she would ask the practice manager to get in touch with me again as well.

I think everyone agrees at this point this has been a disaster. Considering they've been giving me the rest of my meds fine I have to wonder why it was specifically the testosterone they got stuck on. And if they've done this to me, what about anyone else taking similar medication? They got stuck on my having a temperature when I made it quite clear it was a sporadic thing, but a sporadic thing I can't control because it could easily have happened in the surgery itself and then where would I be? In allowing reception to bar me from speaking to a doctor and passing along half-messages so everything gets scrambled, the blame here lies squarely with them.

I'm still laughing at the practice manager yesterday when I told her what reception had said, "Oh, no. No no no no no. Oh no."

Sums the last 6 weeks up perfectly, I think.

Some are great, and some are on a complete power trip - the same as any job, I would guess.

I just realised I actually snuck in an "alternative" curse word somewhere in this thread. What was that we were saying about me finding words like that a few days ago, @Falken?

I'm so sorry you are having all these issues @Lorcan its always difficult to know whether its a crap power-crazed receptionist or a systematic failure of the system :(
My old mum used to get this in Yorkshire, the hospital would say go to the GP, the receptionist once actually said to mum "oh no not you again" and put the phone down! So she ended up back in A&E... cue another referral to the community health team, who is booked via the GP receptionist... it was very frustrating and unfair, mum is (ahem) a bit of a character but she is entitled to not have to call an ambulance for stuff that could be prevented by a visit from a nurse!
Sending many many hugs and piggy kisses, if you were one of my piggies I would have you straight to the best vet who could probably do much better than your GP!
And I hope you get your glasses too, piggy daddy is a -7.5 prescription in both eyes, he's as blind as one of those cave creatures without any eyes... his lenses cost £300 and even the "thinner" version is about 1/4 inch thick! Good job he likes the chunky frames...

I never realised it was so difficult to get a photo of a pair of glasses before, but you can at least tell my left eye is better than my right.

As for the receptionist hanging up on your mum, @PigglePuggle I had similar issues with people when I moved to England. My GP at the time (in Eccles) wasn't the issue, but mental health services and I had a major problem with each other both in Eccles/Salford AND when I first moved to Rochdale. Thankfully they've now got people who know what they're doing in the CMHT here but it'd be nice if the GP could do the same thing.

:) @Lorcan , consider me to be that cool supply teacher on the last day of school, you can do whatever you want, I won't stop you.

So, this is what I'm hoping will be the final update (I know, I know, famous last words) -

I've had the injection. They have a one way system (for using the upstairs rooms) that involves going up in the lift, going back down via the stairs, and then leaving via some sort of fire door rather than going back through to the waiting room. That was fun. As long as they don't change it for next time, it'll be doable. More of a problem was the heat and a mask. I can wear a mask in public with no issue because I've done it, but if I'm too warm it can feel physically suffocating, which isn't helped by wearing a mask. I might swap some medication timings round when I'm next due in to see if that helps.

I did have to ask if I could see a different nurse next time. She insisted on doing it in the hip because that's where they always do it. I said mine gets done in the thigh. "Do you remember which leg it was last time?" "...that was 10 weeks ago, so no." Well, it got done in the hip. It was looked up today and it says right there, in the notes, "Due in [x] leg next time" so it was definitely there on Tuesday. No matter. Days were swapped. "You sure you don't mind coming in 2 days late?" I waited for 6 weeks last time, 2 days is doable.

And the CQC weren't very happy with them. Breaking news, that. She did also say she listened back to all the phonecalls and she would be having words with the one who told me it wouldn't kill me to wait. I was beginning to almost hope I'd made that conversation up in my head, but sadly no.

Well, here's to smooth running in 4 weeks time lol.

I'm glad you have finally had your injection, even if was far from ideal.

It's good to hear that your dreadful treatment is being investigated by the regulator
