Serious Note Now, Iggy's Condition.

Will do, it's just going to be a bit awkward as I don't know how to tell them the dosage is wrong... I'll ask them if it's twice daily they may have printed the label wrong or something I don't know.

I'm not even sure if this will help him tbh but I guess we have to try!
 
When I went to check Iggy's bits and clean them I noticed there's blood coming out of his willy :(

What does this mean? Could it be the medication? It's not when he's weeing it was when I pushed it out. I noticed what could be a cut on the side of his willy but it was on the top too, then more came out as I manipulated it.

I swear he just likes to scare me :soz:

It really is, I'd love to take all of it away from him and take it myself. If only I could.

I just don't understand why his willy could be bleeding :no:
 
Oh poor Iggy :( if youre not comfortable telling the vet their dosage is wrong, tell them youve knocked the bottle over and spilled it, youd like a replacement if possible etc.

When Leonard had his UTI, the vet pressed just above his penis where the bladder is and he expressed a rather large amount of blood, is that a possibility? Unless hes chewed at it through pain or discomfort or something and caused a small wound..

I'm so sorry youre dealing with this, its absolutely horrible when theyre not well, its even worse when the vet has no idea what theyre doing!

That paediatric banana flavoured septrin stuff.

I've just cleaned up his area and that wasn't a cut on his willy, it was a vein. So the blood is definitely coming out of willy for some reason :(

I’m pretty sure you’re fine to keep giving him the antibiotic. Ring vets tomorrow. Is he on Metacam?

It could be? I hadn't pressed on his willy initially when the blood went on the tissue but when I did some more came out. I just had a detailed look (much to his disgust) and I couldn't see any wound.

Thank you, it is horrible. If he's got a UTI on top of this it's going to be awful, he's already on antibiotics so why would it show itself now? He's been on them since the weekend.
 
I'm so sorry you are having problems with iggy again I remember the last time. I think I would give the new vet 4-5 days if hes not improving l would make an emergency appointment with Simon. I know an op is the last thing you want but if it cures him I'd go down that route. Is there anything familiar you can put in his carrier to reassure him. Stop every hour so he can have a cuddle & a snack.
Hope everything goes well for him & things get resolved.

Thanks so much, I haven't actually met the other vet yet and am still under my usual vet.

I hope he won't need an op but if he did I would definitely find a way to get to Simon. It's just hard to get there for me as I don't drive.

I'm really scared for him, especially if he does have to go for an operation. I'm hoping we can fix this with medicine but I start to feel so helpless and panicky with this new development of blood.

It's not a great time for us, the girlies aren't getting as much attention either and neither are the snails and Tilly :(

And now I've just thrown Hibiscrub all over my carpet! :doh: Taxi!
 
Update: It was a battle to give him his meds tonight and while I was getting the last of it in he starts squeaking and crying as he lets loose and pees on me and my carpet (I definitely need a new one now!).

There was no blood in his urine, but he can't seem to wee without pooping (could it be the strain?) so his body tensed, spasmed a bit as he did a big pee and 3 poos. It was heart breaking.

So I guess that means the blood isn't urinary and is actually from his penis? What could that be?

It may be an infection or injury - to find out, you'll need a hands-on examination at the vets. Make sure that he has his metacam.

Yes he has his metacam, would he have more infection? I don't understand as he's on antibiotics.

I'm in bits right now, it looks like all the girls have some kind of infection with their privates now. They have a similar (but not quite the same), stinky discharge coming from them but it's like a mucus :(

Could they have got something from Iggy? I've never had all the pigs have any kind of infection at the same time before and I'm in tears.

I'll be cleaning the cage top to bottom when I finish work tomorrow and I'll be calling the vets, I have no idea how I'm going to get them all there or get them there at all as I'm working 7 days this week.

I assume the girls will go on baytril which is going to be great fun giving all 5 meds twice a day! What the hell is going on? :(
 
Oh no. I feel so bad for you and your piggies. I hope that the vets can get on top of whatever is going on soon.

Big hugs! It can well be the same issue. Candida (fungal) infection? Perhaps something to mention to your vet as an avenue to pursue?

Thanks, I'll look it up and talk to the vets about it. That could explain why I can't seem to get rid of it? We haven't tried fungal treatment as yet.

I always assumed that this was Iggy's abscess reoccurring but I guess it could be something else?
 
Aww poor Iggy & poor you, it must seem as though it's never ending. I would go to the other vet for a second opinion I did that with Molly & got 2 different diagnose if the end I swapped to the second vet You don't have to go with what the other vet says, just see what they say & decide which way your going.

Yes I think I'll need some other opinions because it really is never ending. It doesn't help that I've got no days off this week, but next week I've got some holiday booked now so I'll be able to nurse everyone back to health for 5 days.

Do you guys reckon I'll need to take them all to the vets or just 1 or 2 of the girls? Not sure how I'll get the 5 of them there tbh!

I just feel like the worst person in the world right now, with them all being poorly now I can't figure out how this happened :(
