Serious Note Now, Iggy's Condition.

Just catching up again and I'm so sorry to read that things aren't going well for the girls now as well as Iggy. Hugs to you and I hope things improve soon and the vet can find out just what is happening. Chin up and don't beat yourself up. You are doing a great job and clearly care very much for all your piggies. xx

Silly me I've just read what's wrong. Lol. Is it exactly the same as iggy I would just take iggy to the vet as it's a recurring problem, if you tell him about the girls, take them in later.
Is there anything you can disinfect the fleeces with, & if you can get iggy in a separate cage close to the girls I'd do that. You never can tell what these men can give us girls. Lol
Can you book iggy into the new vets now so your not waiting around the until your first day off Good Luck
Alcohol is good for worrying, mind you if you give it to the piggies you won't worry.

Just read through this thread and I am deeply saddened to realise that poor Iggy (and now the girls) are poorly. They are in the best hands with you and if anyone is going to find out what's wrong you will! I'm very sorry that your first little boy seems to be having a spot of bad luck and I hope that he and your girls recover soon and a vet is finally able to ease your worry with a diagnosis. Huge hugs to you and an even bigger hug to Iggy and the girls from myself and my two hooligans. Xx

Thanks guys and sorry for not updating much, it's just been very worrying.

They're all tucking into some grass right now and wondering why I'm worrying. Iggy seems no better but it's only just a week I think since starting medication so I don't know if it's too soon to tell and if I'm just wanting a quick fix.

I'm thinking about moving to Northhampton lol. I've started the girls off on a bit of baytril til I can get them to the vets, I think I'll just take Bella and Cissy as Bella is worse off and she travels better with Cissy, hopefully it's just a urine infection for the girls. This is not a good week to be be doing 60 odd hours at work...

Did a massive clean last night and disinfectanted their entire world lol so hopefully that will help too.

Keep going, you’re doing great. Hopefully you’ll have some better news soon!

Big hugs to you and the piggies. Especially lovely Iggy.:hug:

Iggy certainly appreciates the bugs! Drom might nip you though :))

I was just wondering what kind of price people normally spend on metacam, I was charged £17 odd for the recent lot (1 bottle) and I'm sure it's not normally that much!

You can buy it cheaper at places like Vet UK etc but you’ll need a veterinary prescription, so it depends on how much that costs as to how much you’ll save. Veterinary practices vary in how much they charge for a prescription.

Ah okay, I'm almost certain it was under a tenner at my vets. I'll probably look through the many other invoices I have and check lol.

I don't know if it's worth buying it in bulk to be honest, I seem to be needing lots of it.

It's only a small 10, I looked online and saw it was £5-£10 at other places... Wonder if I've been over charged!
It's a prescription item so, when you get it direct from the vet, the price will include the cost of the prescription .

Online prices don't include the cost of the prescription .

Yea I'm not sure how much the prescription cost is so I might check that, see if it's cheaper this way. Maybe I wasn't charged prescription fees before as I had Iggy with me? If so that's a bit annoying as he'd only been there a few days before lol.

I think our large bottle was only about £20
I don't need a prescription no & again the vet will ask me if I need any metacam or Baytrill if I do she just gives it me. I have to buy it off course, but she gives me hibiscrub free.
Are you with your new or old vet. Cavy ls iggy any better.

You don't need a prescription if you are getting the medication directly from your vet practice, only if you are buying from elsewhere. There is a dispensing fee attached to medications though.

If I were you, I would get him up to Simon I know it's a long way, take the girls with you. If it means iggy being out of pain. Simon is said to be the best, also if Simon thought he needed an op, you needy worry.

It's not always that easy for people who don't drive, I will certainly get there if I can't find a solution down here but it takes planning and money, I wanna make sure I have enough of both before I make that trip with my beloved Iggy. I wouldn't take 5 pigs that far so the girls would stay at home, it would be too worrying for me and them I think. I'll be trying another recommended vet first that's closer but if we're still getting no where then I'll do what I need to!

Oh I'm sorry I didn't know you couldn't drive, l just think everyone can.
Least if they are trying new ABs it will clear up. Fingers crossed for him.

Yea that's the problem I have, everyone always thinks I can drive :))

Yea it's just really difficult as the people I know who do drive also work... We'll figure something out I'm sure. I just don't want to put him through too much stress on a trip by train etc in this cold.

Just a bit of an update on Iggy, he's having an X-ray tomorrow after an alarming turn of events this morning where he was suddenly in a massive amount of pain when attempting to pee. I've never seen anything like it and I've never been so hysterical in my whole life. Rushed to vet who said there still isn't any stones to feel but an X-ray is a must. He may need surgery but we'll cross that bridge once we find out the results...

He seems absolutely fine now but his willy is a bit sore so I'll be keeping an eye on that too. I just wish I knew what was going on, I still just have this awful feeling that it's tissue trauma from his neuter and I don't know what you can do about that.

Feeling completely useless and powerless right now... I'd become an alcoholic but I have a feeling I won't be able to afford it after all these vet bills!

Poor you and Iggy! Lots of healing vibes. I hope the vet can get to the bottom (if that's an appropriate way to put it) of Iggy's troubles and set him on the road to full recovery.

Thank you! We need the healing vibes, I'm so nervous. Especially with treating him and the 4 girls atm I'm a bag of nerves!

I hope so too, I really want to get this sorted asap as I can't take this much longer. It's so upsetting to see him like this :(
