Dont tell my husband but I have just ordered some more correx, grids and vetbed so that I can make the piggies cage bigger :<> They are going to have a palace ;)

haha very lucky piggies, its hard not to treat these little animals like royality i just bought mine a new indoor cage an even bigger one than she had :))

Shhhhhh - I am going to adopt two more guinea pigs from the RSPCA, and my hubby is NOT tickled at all, to put it mildly!

The new cage has just arrived, so I can arrange a house visit now; and hopefully collect them next week. (Fingers crossed!)

One has to feel for our long-suffering OHs, though - being plastered up with pigs and cages! And, in my case, asked to build houses, platforms, ramps and runs...

Good luck with breaking the news!

Ha ha Vicky, good on you :(|)

I'm trying to talk hubby into building or buying me an outdoor hutch so that I can rescue another 2 piggies in the future. At the moment he is saying no but will work on him ;)

Maxy wouldn't know how to build a house and I'm not allowed to do it as I would literally kill muself doing it...:)):)):))

However, he (yes he) said we need a bigger home for more piggies... :)):))

Now thats just an invitation to go visit rescues ;) Quick run before he changes his mind :))

your poor husbands :)) I don't have a husband/bf. I live at home with my parents. So when I want animals, (but i know I am not allowed anymore once these ones have gone) I have to ask my parents not my hubby/bf :))

I was the same when I lived with my parents Cookie, hated having to try convince them to let me have a pet. Then I started working part time in a rescue centre and started to really get on their nerves as I wanted to rescue everything! :))

I can well imagine that! They must have been in constant apprehension!

My OH probably blaims this forum, although, in truth, I have been "broody" before that. Actually, ever since my Mam-in-law has gone difficult about me bringing my "messy" pigs on our weekend visits to Wales. It's become easier to leave them at home in the care of a neighbour...

But he has just agree to outfit the new cage, a bit grudgingly, but enough to merit a BIG kiss!

My husband is working abroad until June so he returned home last week for 6 days to find another 2 sows here :)) He said 'are you satisfied now or am I going to come back in June to even more?' at which point I thought I had better tell him I had rescued a boar that will be here next month :)) He knows that I long for a coronet or sheltie at some point too so he is probably waiting for that announcement! Never find any sheltie or coronet sows in rescue though :(

Perhaps you can find one on this forum?

Though, in defense of your OH, better make sure he is warned! And knows he comes first with you (or at least THINKS he's first...)

I keep my eye out in the rescue pages on here incase one comes up in need of a home so fingers crossed I will have one someday :)

It is worth ringing up rescues, as not all pigs make it onto the website. If they know that you are looking for a specific breed, they might be willing to give you a tinkle when they get one in!

Funny how we keep things a little quiet from our OH's. :)):)):))

My OH moans (I think they have to try to stamp their authority, don't you think? ... but it never works rolleyes:))) but he loves the piggies as much as me. Umbrella is now his favourite and he is building him a new hutch on Thursday!

My hubby is quite understanding really, he pretends to whinge that I want too much when it comes to the piggies but he loves them as much as me ;)

My o/h thinks I spend far too much time on the guineas and on here! He's not really an animal person but I just laugh at him.

We have had our piggies since Feb and he tells everyone I've spent about £500 on them already which is wrong ..... he likes to make a big thing out of it ... lol

He's just jealous .... lol xoxo

My Oh has remarked on occasion that he would like to come back as guinea pig...

Angeladeedah, we are QUITE jealous! But then, who would cry even more than we when one of the piggies dies? Or go behind our back and sneak them some food?

Yep I caught hubby doing this on several occasions last week, the rustling bag and loud wheeking kind of gave him away :))

Could you tell me where you got your correx ,am having trouble findingit. Thanks.

:(|):(|) i've had a good laugh reading this thread
erm i'm guilty too, about spending money on my piggies my OH has nooooooo idea how much i spent on our sick boy last year erm well i should say over the years :(

I did have to convince him to let me get my girls tho :p and now i have seen him peeking into their cage and he helped modify the old cage for them :))

I saw the perfect chance to remodel my dog's old massive run into a guinea pig pen and did it ... and didn't tell my boyfriend for about 2 weeks... in the end he only found them because the dog went down there, she's obsessed with looking at them! Ooopsie...

I dropped it into conversation last night that someday I would love a sheltie, coronet or Himalayan (I love these but dont have any) and his response was 'well why dont you look around some rescues and see if any need a home?'. I wasnt expecting that so nearly fell over :)) At least I know he wont grumble when the time comes now :(|)

Hopper Haven in Redditch (Worcestershire, just off the M42 southern end of Birmingham)) have bonded groups. At least one Himalayan boar with two sows that have been on the rehome for months, and some long haired ones desperately waiting to be rehomed as well.

Unfortunately, they bond in cross gender pairs and only rehome them together; but you could ring them up and ask. They usually got quite a number of pigs.

I got Llewi from them; his wife-to-be had babies, so he was free...

Redditch is about a 2 hour drive from me so a bit too far. Dont think they would consider me because of the distance and I'm 30 weeks pregnant so maybe a bit too far for me to drive at mo too. I only have the space for one more here until such times as hubby builds me an outdoor hutch ;)

Sorry - hopefully all is well with you!

I'm just so sorry for those gorgeous himalayans, but haven't got the space for two roaming groups - my hubby would go straight through the roof!
