I gave the guinea pigs a load of hay to help keep them warm. They were delighted.

Their snuggle safes cool down much faster when I do two at once.

A stone hot water bottle (wrapped in fleece with a zipped cover over the top of the fleece) lasts longer than the snuggle safes.

Going to get more stone hot water bottles.

Gave them a fleece area again today. They were very pleased. Shimmer did some popcorns!

I realise that I will have to change the fleece very often. The snuggle safes go in the hay area.

I really hope they are cosy. I suffer on their behalf when it is cold at night. I would LOVE to be able to have them indoors but there is no space.

A stone hot water bottle will certainly do the job. They keep the heat a lot longer in Human beds too.

I didn't know you could still buy them! I've just procured one from my parents' belongings, but it was originally my grandparents'.

Me too. They currently have 32 litre underbed storage boxes in their hay area so Shimmer has to stand on her back legs and kind of jump into the tray. Going to get a lower sided tray in there soon.

Here is their set up today with slightly rearranged fleece area, they did the rearranging.

It was mainly that the bed had moved and one of them had tunnelled under the bottom noodle mat!

Also the addition of a few decorative poos.

Their rearranging was plain to be seen! Clever girls!

Their snuggle safe is keeping warm a bit longer. Probably because they spend a lot of time sitting on it and keeping it warm with their body heat.

I will take a fresh one down later. They have the stone hot water bottle covered in fleece with hay around it as well.

I put fresh dry fleece in there today.

Took some more pics today and changed their fleece. They now have almost flat litter trays I put a layer of newspaper under them and a layer of cardboard then newspaper under the fleece area.

Moondust looked a bit chirpier today. She has a new friend. Not yet bonded as he only came here today. He seems to be settled and relaxed already. He has had a good look around and has been out in his run.

Thank you he is rather lovely. He is currently called Mushroom. I am looking to change it to something to match Moondust. Maybe Starlight. Not sure yet.

The days will start to get lighter now. Yey!

I still worry about the guinea pigs being warm enough. They have snuggle safes and lots of hay and each other so hopefully they will be fine.

Yes, solstice is over but it is a magical night nevertheless. The cold of late winter should be here soon

What if he likes the name Mushroom? He might have an identity crisis trying to learn a new name?

I did wonder about changing it but somehow today when he took a dandelion leaf from my hand I felt his lovely gentle energy and a wave of love came over me. I think a new name will be fine

He is such a beautiful boy.

I cleaned out S and S today. The amount of hay that I took out was incredible. Hope the rubbish collectors will take loose black bags. I fill up about two a week and they only collect every three weeks. Eek.
