well another thread started by me :D

So I now have 6 boys all adopted from RSPCA Walsall but yesterday I was in a p@h getting more chew toys (Ted loves the tug of war rope thingie) when I don't know why but I was drawn too the adoption area which I usually try to avoid, I put blinkers on when walking past cages :D anyway I walked over and saw this really sad looking piggie, I put my fingers near the gap in the glass and started talking too him and he came right over, laid down by my hand and no word of a lie he looked like he sighed! My heart broke for him! Then the usual kids came running up to the glass banging on it and he ran back into his hidey :td: I have never welled up over a piggy like him before and I just can't stop thinking about him! He was quite big think I would have to weigh him and get him running around I have no idea how old or why his been given up either. Hubby wasn't too keen but he knows what I'm like! I have got room (at a push) and food etc isn't a problem. Help what would you do??

:ple:

I would probably get him! The PAH near me had three piggies dumped outside their store not long before christmas 2015, they had them in the rehoming/adoption bit. unfortunately I didn't have the space or money or I would have taken them.

If it was me I'd be very tempted lol so as long as you have the room and money etc for possible vet bills in the future I'd say go for it.

I am going up today to have a chat with them, see if I can find out why he has been given up and if he likes other piggies. I may end up adopting a baby for him that would make 8!

Well I have him :yahoo:
Nobody knew much about him at all, so no age or why he was given up! I have weighed him and his 1kg! He was in quarantine been treated for a skin infection which I think looks like mites, his got a bald spot and scabs on his back and smells abit whiffy :D also I can feel that his glands need a jolly good clean. I've just cut his nails as they were curled over poor thing I've attached a pic of one but the others were worse! He is now chilling in his hidey getting used to all the sounds and smells. Not sure how long I will have him not knowing his age but I'm happy :D

Awww, he's gorgeous.

I know you can see why my heart melted for him! I was surprised that he was vet cleared with nails like that I thought they might have clipped them! But anyway Yet another name too think of though :D at the moment I'm thinking
1) Oakley
2) Rodney
3) victor
4) seven <<< lucky number and his number 7 in my family
8) speckles
9) Barclay <<< his colouring is kind of like tree bark

Vote now people :D

I vote for Oakley :)

Congratulations! What a stunner, has his mites fungal cleared up yet? From experience please make sure it has cause if it spreads it can be a nightmare. What treatment is he on?

I think Oakley or Barclay

They were very vague on treatment length he just said I know his been vet cleared? But he said he thought the name xeno rang a bell when I mentioned it! I asked when his last dose of that was and he said maybe last week sometime  so all I can say at the mo is he definitely has a touch of dandruff still and his bald patch is sensitive as he started whimpering abit when I was checking it out! I am highly tempted to bath him in anti fungal or similar and start a xeno treatment myself but not knowing when his last dose was worried me.

So pleased you took him.Kyle was a PAH adoption as was Harley my rabbit.Kyle just melted me, didn't like the thought of him being homed on his own.Soda-pop was full price but I fell in love.

I have to be honest adopting another was never on the cards but when I saw him yesterday oh my word  I felt awful leaving him there with all those kids banging the glass at him! I would love to know his age, I know piggies can live for many years and I hope he has a happy life with us :D but curiosity and all that jazz!

I think he is Oakley :luv:

He's beautiful and definitely has a touch of golden agouti to him. I know because my Keiko has similar colouring especially on his face and head where his golden hairs seem to be much more prominent :) even my white Sheltie/Abby mix? Has a touch of golden agouti on his nose image.webp

You made me well up again

I really do not know who could have given him up, by the state of his nails I don't think they cared from the get go :td: and when he got mites? I think they panicked and thought it was expensive to fix so they dumped him
