I have been looking for a suitable hutch/cage to have on stand by should by boys start falling out, due to the vet bills I've faced and only working 12 hours I was looking for second hand ones I put in the google search 'free guinea pig hutch' it brought up free guinea pigs too :( I saw one lonely female in a small rusty cage with bedding and a bowl but that was it :( I screen shooter the image but I think I'm not allowed to post it on here.
I was so innocently looking for one thing and know I just wish I hadn't :,(

Thank you AbiS
I don't like the thought of them not being loved as they should be, why do people see animals as items to get rid of when they get bored of them etc

I know hun, it makes me sad & angry when I see posts like that too, most of the time the reason for rehoming them is a silly excuse like 'kids have lost interest' :hb: if the parents aren't prepared to take responsibility for them, they shouldn't let their children get them in the first place - so frustrating that so many people have a throw away attitude towards animals

*hugs* Kell. I know what you mean. That's how I've ended up with Mario, there were 6 piggies in the adoption section of PAH... Such a shame the girly wasn't closer to me :(

:agr: Fully Hun I could not stop thinking of her all night :(

The info read something like they had got her to be a companion for their other female guinea pig but they had a fight so need to find this one a new home. So basically this poor piggy is going to shipped off again to another home. We all know what site I stupidly clicked on via google :( I wanted to message the person and say contact a rescue centre I wanted to go through the whole thing and message them all but I would still be at it this morning, oh my word some people I think we should be able to pop them in a small cage and cart them from home to home and see how they like it, or better still there should be better rules and laws about keeping animals.

Thank you Ruth :hug:Mario is a lucky fella finding a loving forever home. We have a rehoming board in our smaller P@H I don't go into the big store that often so I'm unsure if they have rehoming animals in that one I best not look hay Hun :( but saying that look at Mario he's been a lucky boy and found you :)

I only saw the ones that came up on my screen I did not want to scroll down :( I hope in the future to go onto that site (I know this may make some people cross as I should use the rescue link above) and I'm going to give a lovely home to some of these poor piggies I know it's an never ending cycle...so wrong.

Sadly it's the same with most animals :( We can only do the best for the one's we have and give a home to a needy one when we can xx

It just goes to show what a nitwit I am. I didn't even think that piggies would need to be adopted. Let's face it they are no trouble to look after and such a joy.
I bought 2 piggies from P@H a few months ago. They are adorable. One is much more outgoing and comes to greet me as soon as I go in their room. They squeak at the sound of the hay bag rustling and run up waiting for more food.
I just love them so much. They let me cut their nails and hold them without any problems. As much as I love them I do wish I'd adopted 2 who weren't being loved.
Hmmm perhaps I need some more. OH is naughty because he encourages me. He loves them too and says he might get a couple of boys.

I hate it when people own a guinea pig, then trade it in with a 'better' pet, such as a dog, then dumping the pig, even though it was there first! The poor piggy deserves some more loyalty than that, this sort of thing really upsets me.

Your not a nitwit Lorraine I didn't think about going onto that site to give some unloved piggies and loving home. Your two lovelies were meant to be yours I'm sure, like you said may be you will have more when your ready :)
I fully agree they are no bother at all.

We have 2 dogs, a rescued German shepherd who is the softest most loyal dog I've ever known (although he does bark at anyone who knocks on thd door until they come in and them he licks them to death)
A yorkie who thinks he's a German shepherd and is 'in love' with the big male gsd.
6 budgies, 2 piggies and a teeny tiny roborovski hamster.
We love them all. I would love more piggies though. As a child I was never allowed anything like hamsters Guinean pigs etc. I'm making up for it now I'm 50

Aww, at you least you can decide yourself about pets.
I was being licked to death by a Cairne Terrier last week, I must have tasty legs!

Cairn's are lovely dogs. We had 2 as a child.
We are moving soon and my parents are going to be living with us. That will be interesting. My mum who is 79 says she won't go near the piggies or hamster. Lol I'll never see her.
We'd love chickens too when we've settled in.

My dream would be something like this (would need a good size garden too lol) I would turn it into a proper room with large sectioned areas for different groups and offer a loving forever home to unloved piggies :)

My OH is having a shed just like that for his woodwork workshop. I'm having a summer house. Do you think it would get too hot in there if I had my piggies with me while I'm writing?

Oh sounds lovely :)
I would keep the door and or windows open and if poss take a fan out to your summer house on very warm days and fresh cold water and they should be fine you will be keeping an eye on them anyway Hun so you will know if they are getting to hot, other tip worth trying are cold floor tiles for them to lay on.

its very sad to see pets in that situation :(

Maybe try gumtree for free cages

or if you do decide to buy something new zooplus have a 119 x 59 cage for under £35 and a 100 x 56 cage for about £27

I didn't think of zooplus thank you that's great :)

Gumtree was the link I happened to click on sadly :.( and that's all I was looking for.. just cages but because people had worded their adds 'free guinea pig and/with cage' they came up too :(
Kell

oh thats not so good :( i always heard gumtree was abit better than that (i never used it we have a local website).

the cage thats about £27 is too small for 2, but would be great for a just incase of fall out, or for quarenteen, timeouts etc for 1 piggy as a temporary home. but if there were a fall out and the piggy wouldnt be in the 100 just temporary maybe best going for the larger one after it happens.
