Can anyone tell me roughly what size of cage is suitable for two GPs?

As in another post i am thinking of getting another piggy for Scruffy and I wanted to have general dimensions of cage size or people to post examples of cages which would be suitable?

Thanks!

thanks Sunshine and Twinkle

Does that mean a Nero 3 is too small? :(

It is Nero 3 is 3ft x 1.5ft or there abouts. Nero 4 is ideal. :) All my boys are in them :)

I will have 2 Nero 4 cages with stands up for sale soon as I'm converting over to a C&C cage.

thanks everyone, I am not very good in foot you see!

So a Nero 4 would be suitable>?

Louiser how much are you selling stand and cage for?

I havent decided 100% yet but I wouldnt want two of them in a cage that is too small.

Also there is the chance they could fight so I may not be able to keep them together anyway.

COuld you have a 6month old and a 7/8 week old in a Nero 3 cage for a few days until I could get an alternative, just to make sure they get on too?

Also what are the dimensions of one grid for C and C cage. I am wondering if it cheaper to do this than get a Nero 4?

Any thoughts?

1ftx1ft roughly. I found my grids slightly bigger than 1ft. :)

I'm making a 8x2 downstairs and a 3x2 upstairs for my girls on Monday. I've got C&C coming out my ears! :D

sunshine and twinkle, where do you get yours from?

Also what do you use for the bottom of the cage? (what is best)

I wouldnt get this until i knew they didnt fight together so would they be ok in the Nero 3 for a week or so? the other one would only be 7 weeks old, and mine is still small at 6 months?

screwfix.com they are called cubes. :) They do deliever if there isn't a screwfix store in your area.

Correx is best it's thin plastic that you can bend. You can get that from Travis and Perkins or all good sign makers and it is cheap. :) To be honest I use laminate as we had loads left over and I'm forever changing the shape of my cages...lol But once I've settled on a shape I will get correx I think.

To be honest they may fight in a Nero 3 even for a week they need just a bit more space. 6 months is that early teenage stage. If you got the grids it wouldn't be a waste because you cold use it as a play pen for them. :)

£50 each including the stand, I don't really want to sale without the stands as I would have no other use for them.

They won't be for sale until beginning of September

Thanks Sunshine and Twinkle - you are right thank you! I have found a screwfix in the area, I never knew they existed! and Travis and Perkins is right next to me at work! i am looking at the buildnig as we speak!

Thanks for all your advice, it has been really helpful!

Can you get the little plastic cord things that tighten to hold the grids together - i know you can get connectors but just in case.

Also is it easy to mat two tier - how do you get the ramp sorted to get up to this - unfortunately my work computer doesnt show photobucket pictures as its blocked :( :( is this easy to do?

You can get the cords to tie it together I think from B&Q Peter had loads so I nicked them all but I double up with really strong wool as well on top only as they can't eat it then.

Well I made a high level single tier for Pudsey and Eccles in the winter. And I found it not hard to make. The ramp I've already made for the girls one I just bent two grids in half with my feet and tied them together. :)

Pepe and Leo are in a 4ft by 2ft CNC cage (4x2 grids) and althought it's quite spacious I still think sometimes that it's not quite big enough.. At the weekend we're having a re-shuffle in the spare room and are hoping to extend that to a 5x2 grid (space permitting). We're also intending to try and bond Bear and Xander over the next week or two and intend for them to be in a 5x2 CNC cage too.

Personally I don't like the B&Q grids, I much prefer the Screwfix ones as I find the connectors fit better on them.

I feel really guilty as my two are in a Nero 3. It's unavoidable - I want to have them living indoors with me but my house (small mid-terrace) is the human version of a Nero2! They're in the kitchen and I have to move the cage whenever I want to get into the cupboards. They go in their run outside whenever it's nice and can be free-range in the house when I'm with them to watch for wire chewing etc! I work from home so that's quite a lot of the time.

Still feel guilty though.

if i get a C&C cage, i want to make it to fit into the space i have in my room, therefore could be over the 4 grid, bbut not maybe a full grid, hence me wanting the plastic ties.

Sunshine and Twinkle - you put the wool around the ties/connectors? how did you make a high single tier one off the floor?

I agree Marty I only have the wire cable from B&Q my grids are from Screwfix and I also have 30 blue ones which the girls are in, I wish they were pink! :D

the B&Q ones dont stock them in this area anyway so i will get screwfix ones, I'm really excited now!

I might to get travis perkins at lunch to ask them about correx. roughly how much is this you think?

It's really cheap depending on your size I was quoted £8.00 for 4x2. :)

i shall find out at lunch hopefully! for the two tier, what you use on the floor for second floor, same as bottom?

I'm so dumb its unbelievable! haha!

I'm planning to fix mine to a plywood base and then fix castors to the bottom so i can move it about.

can anyone help as to the question of rising the cage off the floor?:o

I'll post some pics up later of the one I did. I just did it with the cubes. :)

i justy thought of having it off, like a foot or so, i have a back back and shoulder and that may aggravate it. if not, i can live it with it on the floor!
