Skinny Guinea Problems...

Aww how cute. They sound so happy with their hay. My piggies get so excited with fresh hay and play in it. It is so important to them. Poo bear is a cute name!

ahhh bless :(|) I am glad you managed to get some hay, its the best thing for them

It most certainly is ^_^ She eats tons of it everyday xD It's so adorable how she always stuffs her tummy with it, and she's gained so much weight since then! She's currently on my lap cuddled on her towel, she seems a bit bloated down there, I really hope she's not pregnant, but if she is, I'll take all the necessary steps needed to take care of her. Anyways, I took some pictures a day or two ago with mt new camera, and I thought I'd share them ^_^ She's unbelievably adorable and beautiful. I even made this 3-minute movie of her exploring an area of our garden xD It's really hilarious, as I added a lot of sound effects and worked quite hard on it. I'll post it soon ^_^ Here's the pictures:

Even my Mom, who really hates guinea pigs, is starting to like Citrom xD She has a really interesting, clever personality.

Aww she looks amazing. She is doing so well. :) Well done for all your hard work.

She so gorgeous and looks so much better than when you first got her!:))

She most certainly does and is ^_^ Thanks :) She certainly is pregnant, however. She has that eggplant shape to her body. I believe she was with the boar, Sweetpea, at that awful pet store, and they most certainly mated. Is there any other way to supplement the calcium she needs as I don't have alfafa hay? ): Perhaps I can give her milk to drink.
She looks like she is smiling. She's looking shiny, plump and gorgeous. And she has sitcky up ears!

She does! xD It's damn cute. I read somewhere that piggy ears flop as they grow older, so she's certainly a very young piggy xD

You cannot give her milk as guinea pigs are vegans. I am not sure what you could do for her without alfafa hay. Ensure she has unlimited pellets. You do not want to feed her too many vegetables as she will have big babies and that could be dangerous for her. What a shame this little one is pregnant. Poor thing has been through enough already. :(

There is a whole pregnancy & labour section on this forum under guinea pig care that you should review. It is particulalry important to note when baby boys should be separated from mum and any baby girls as you don't want Citrom to have back-to-back pregnancies. You should also post specific questions about the issue on there as members very experienced with the subject monitor that section.

Your berseem hay, while not as high in calcium as alfalafa, is still a very high calcium hay compared to the hays we would feed adults here, so good for Citrom and any bubbas when they arrive.

There are some vegies also very high in calcium, which normally you would only feed a little bit to adults, but you night want to increase for Citrom if she is preggers. Check this thread and look at the vegies in the very high and high caclium lists.

Oh my :/ I hope she won't suffer too much because of this pregnancy, and I've already checked that section, thank you :) I'll certainly be feeding her any veggies with high calcium, as well as pellets. Though I think I should limit those as well, it says that the babies might grow too big due to this ):

Oh God :/ I just noticed Citrom has some flaky, bald areas on her tummy. There's no other symptoms, though.. Should I shower her? We have a pet shampoo, one for animals in general, that fights any parasites and skin problems, can I use that? There's not a single brand of guinea pig shampoo anywhere to be found here ): I'll also be cleaning her cage with disinfectant this time just in case.. Or is this all happening because she's pregnant?

Do you have vaseline? That may help her dry skin. I would not bath her as her skin will be more dry. It is so stupid for a country to sell guinea pigs and not have the things they really need.

I wouldn't bathe her if she pregnant either. Maybe try as piggyfan said and rub some vaseline into the dry skin or sudocrem (nappy rash cream) if you have an equivalent out there.

I do ^_^ I have moisturizer as well if that works better <: And I thought so as well. But yes, exactly.. Only proves they're doing it for the money xD It's not the country or the government involved with pets, there's tons of exotic pets being sold, including vervet green monkeys and snakes, most of which are killed by their owners if they get bitten, or simply abandoned in the streets...

Thank you :) I most certainly will.

Do not use moisturiser as it could irritate her delicate skin. Vaseline is better as it is pure and does not have harmful chemicals. Poor little girl. I really hope her pregnancy is not too uncomfortable.

Thank you :) The Vaseline has been more than succesful, and she's grown so plump lately, she's certainly on the verge of giving birth, I can both see and feel the baby piglets moving inside her tummy ;_; I just hope she won't go through too much pain ): But I'll get her through it. Here's the video I promised, it was taken weeks ago :p Excuse the random, vulgar language in the video's text description xD It's sort of an inside joke between me and friends. She's so adorable o_o

Aww, I do love her half white face! She's so friendly and inquisitive too. A real cutie. I hope the birth goes well for her, she definitely looks happy and healthy :)

Wow she is looking wonderful! Like a totally different piggy. You have done so well with her.

She is a little cutey. What unusual markings she has. sorry she's pregnant...poor wee soul. Your right, that language was vulgar lol

Thank you everyone! :D She just gave birth a few hours ago and I was asleep xD I woke up and was shocked when I saw a tiny, playful guinea cuddled next to Citrom xD She gave birth to two pups, everyone seems so healthy and cheery, they're currently snuggled in a cuddle cup in their cage, and I filled the cage with hay ^_^ It's amazing how they're born with hair and with fully-open eyes xD I took some blurry pictures, but I'll be taking more soon ^_^ I took them outside and put hay in the cage, but Citrom is the only one who fed on the hay, I think they need to breastfeed more first <: I'm so glad and relieved they're all ok, though xD She seems to be a wonderful Mommy piggy <:

Oh how precious! I hope they are girls so they can all live together. How lovely. Do you know you need to remove any boys at three weeks as they can get her pregnant again? Congratulations on being a grandfather!

Thank you :D Of course I know <: I think they're both girls, they have that distinctive y-shape, it's very obvious xD I'll have to check again, they were awfully scared when I held them. One of them has a gorgeous pattern on his face, like a horse, and the other pup has a major mix of colors xD And their tiny ears are so, so adorable.
Wonderful that it all went so well. Gorgeous mummy and bubbys.

Thank you :) They're truly beautiful, yes xD And very playful as well. Speaking of playful, I managed to rescue a small stray kitten I found the other day, curled up into a tiny ball next to a huge, filthy wall, on a highway. My Grandmother says someone must have strayed him, people do it a lot over here, they see a neighborhood cat has given birth and they take the baby out of it's Mother's breasts and leave it somewhere to die alone and cold. Thankfully I noticed him, I don't know how, it's an incredible coincidence.. Mom was driving with her car and I sighted him, a tiny white kitty next to the wall. He was really weak and skinny, and his eyes were covered in muck and dirt, but he's doing so much better now and he's incredibly playful xD He thinks I'm his Mother and follows me everywhere. And I litter-trained him in a single day, he's a very intelligent baby <: I'll post pictures of him soon xD But wow, my room has truly become a zoo, LOL xD But I love them <: I still need to name the guinea pups xD

Oh how cruel to dump a kitten like that. Well done for taking him on. You have to give him a name as well as the new babies. You are so caring and kind to care for your animals the way you do.

Thank you :) I've named the kitty Kloo-Kloo xD The babies' names will come in time ;D They just started eating the hay <:

Piggie pregnances are 59-73 days long. I think your piggie mummy iwas probably pregnant before you got her. I'm glad all is wel x
