My boyfriend and I got two New Guinea pigs from petsmart. Tupac we had for a couple weeks and didn’t notice any health changes until we got Biggie just a couple of days ago. My boyfriend is saying biggie has been sneezing a lot, and now I’m noticing that Tupac is sneezing here and there.
Should I be worried? They are eating fine now, jumping, and seem to be happy together.

Hi! So sneezing is “normal” as long as it isn’t excessive, but it can be hard to draw the line between “normal” and “excessive”. I’d just keep an eye on it. Watch for labored breathing, weight loss, and runny noses, as those can be signs of upper respiratory infections. URI’s are VERY common with GPs, mostly resulting from stress like a new cage mate. If they worsen, take them to the vet for oral antibiotics. My Winston got one a few months back after we added to the crew, and it wasn’t too bad to take care of, but it isn’t something you want to ignore either.
Some of the bedding may be bothering their allergies. If it’s dusty, that may cause them to sneeze. I’d say play around with the bedding? Try fleece and no fabric softener when you wash it.

You must always rule out health issues such as the start of a respiratory infection before you assume bedding is causing them to sneeze. An untreated URI is a serious condition.
It’s unfortunately common for pet shop piggies to come with health problems, so it is always advisable to get them health checked within the first couple of weeks of bringing them home anyway but even more so if you notice any symptoms.
So yes while sneezing can be normal in certain circumstances, do have a vet check carried out.

Have you double checked the sexes of the piggies yourself? Unfortunately missexing and unintended pregnancies is also another common in pet shop piggies
