Pro-C-probiotic is not ‘vitamin drops’.
It is, as the name suggests, a very useful probiotic supplement. It is given to pigs if they are in a stressful (or potentially stressful) situation whether it is illness, pregnancy or, presumably in this case …….in P@H. In the same way, fish in P@H probably have ‘Stress Coat’ added to their water.
It does not degrade rapidly in water. It is not necessary to give an incredibly accurate dose. In the same way that if you eat one or more of the probiotic ( ‘friendly bacteria’ ) drinks/yoghurts, you won’t overdose.
I don’t know why it particularly contains vit C as the levels it contains are negligible (250mg in a 100g pot) so there are better ways of making sure the pig has adequate vit C.
I appreciate that people on this forum 1) feel strongly about additives in water 2) lose patience with P@H. BUT…..putting a probiotic in the water in accordance with manufacturers instructions just does not constitute neglect in any shape or form. There are plenty of things to gripe about with P@H but please, this just ain’t one of them! Personally, I’d be very surprised (given the slower rate of algal growth under artificial lighting) if water bottles were really green from neglect!
