Tomorrow! Let's hope he likes one. Fingers crossed for him - he's been under a pile of hay and won't come out since Stripe died on Thursday. Even his favourite cucumber won't tempt him out :(

Oooh! Good luck Parkin! Fingers crossed for a happy pairing.

Suzy x

Oh poor baby. I really hope he can find a new friend and become happy again.

Good luck Katie :). Please let me know how he gets on, has he lost any weight with being so dull? x

Fingers firmly crossed for Parkin! I really hope that he'll come home again a very happy boy!

Oh dear, poor Parkin. It's very sad that he's so upset. :(
Weeee will keep all our fingers, toes and claws crossed that he finds a lovely companion to make him feel much happier.....x) xx

Hope all goes well for Parkin on his date. It really did the trick for Wallace. Is he at least eating his hay?

aw bless him. Good luck with it, I've done it twice and it certainly did the trick for Fuzzy, a young boar certainly keeps him on his toes!

A little bit (10 g), but he has been eating some of his hay judging by the amount of poops. Here's hoping Nemo or Teddy work out for him!

Och 10g is nothing to worry about. I absolutly adore Teddy it would so lovely to see him with a friend. Can't wait to hear how the get on x

Oh bless him :( wishing him all the luck in the world! Will keep my eyes peeled for news!

Picky Parkin Passes-up Partnership Possibility

So Parkin decides to be awkward and has to be THE dominant piggie...met up with Teddy and Carol today. Teddy is utterly gorgeous and totally chilled about being sat on (by Parkin not me, you'll be pleased to hear!), but an hour and a half later was getting a little p***ed off by continual humping. So that one is a no-no :(

Next up the equally gorgeous Nemo. But unfortunately, Nemo and Teddy had been having a chat, and Nemo was definitely not up for being an armchair for Parkin to sit on. So that one lasted ten mins. :(

So Parkin gets to come home alone again. He's currently sulking under his hay again (although I can hear him nomming away when he thinks I'm not listening :)) )

His slave is hitting the emails this evening, and will be persuading OH that driving 400 - 500 miles in the cause is a good way of spending his money :)). Meanwhile, if anyone has any lonely boars, within a days driving distance of Edinburgh, please let me know.

All is not lost on the Teddy front though, as this slave has a ladypig (Bubbles) who is not really enjoying being part of a herd, particularly since neutered boar Lightening has a habit of sneaking up on her and making her jump. So, in due course, Teddy will be joining us, having his little op (assuming his passes his health check) and joining Bubbles for his forever home.

Many thanks to Hazeyg for putting Carol and me in touch!

Awww Katie my boar is the same he's very dominant- not aggressive just persitant with displaying dominance no pig other than an oap has ever tolerated him. I'm so so glad that you are getting Teddy once he's fit. He really deserves the best and more :). You could as desperate measures try paws here but I would ensure a full health check is done before you bring the piggie home. They have lots of males I'm just bias because Harry came to me with neutering infections and cost a fortune to get him well. Also they said Hary and Theo were fine and they fell out within 24hours with blood shed.
The sspca might have males to but again your relying on your own judgment on whether they will get on as their not as eperienced.
I think your best bet is probably driving the distance as much as a pain as that will be x

Aw, so sorry to hear it didn't go well. Parkin is still looking for his perfect partner and he will find him :))
I understand how hard it is to have a lone piggy - when we adopted Sally, did all the usual quarantine, living next door etc. then the intro's to the herd bombed :0
We had to keep her separate again for a week or so until she went sow dating at Little Thorns rescue run by the delightful Clare x>>
Sal came home with not one but two little buddies and live happily as a trio - Sal doesn't want to be top pig in the trio but she just didn't like our herds top piggy, they locked into battle twice :x
It's worth all the miles in the world to find them the right buddy - some little boy needs an older uncle to show him the ropes somewhere ;)
Keep us posted :))

Aww, it must feel a little disappointing as you must just want him to be happy with a friend but it needs to be the perfect one for him! He'll find him in his own time i'm sure!

What a shame things didn't quite work out for Parkin. :a19:
I'm sure the right friend for him is out there somewhere and will be found soon.
Great news about Teddy tho' so still a good outcome even if it was a different one! :(|)

Another date !

So Parkin is off to Moffat in the Scottish Borders (gorgeous place) which is only 40 miles from here, so quite close (lol for non Scots).

We are seeing a one eyed boar, 6) who apparently is very placid and Parkin has had a good talking to this evening during his two hour lap time. He's been told all about dating manners and how to behave with strange men ^)

However, the wonderful Niki and Helen have also got a younger boar who is cream (I've always wanted a creamy piggie xoxo ) so if he's not too small - ie liable to be squashed by Parkin sitting on him - maybe that will work if one-eye doesn't x)

Fingers and paws crossed for Parkin - hope this is a 'civil' partnership...

aww hope it all goes well for Parkin!
Don't worry about the little one being too small, my Fuzzy went dating and came home with 6 week old tyler and Fuzzy is a HUGE teddy pig, he was about 1.750kg at the time (he's since been on a diet) and they were fine lol :(|) Those young 'uns move fast ;)

Well so far so good. Parkin met a youngish piggie today (probably about five months or so, difficult to tell, but not really a big piggy). Things went ok - no big fights but no snuggles either, and no licking (obviously that's too cissy for boys). We put them together for an hour, and this time, Parkin was the gentlemen - no mounting by possible friend or Parkin, so we decided to bring them home for a trial run.

I think it will work out as they are now at the same end of their new cage, although on different sides. They have moved all the new furniture into the middle of the cage, so that they can do laps and hide behind things, as there are no hideys in there atm, just piles of hay, a couple of chubes and a litter tray.

the piggy is going to be called Cyclops (probably - kids still debating lol) as he was born with one eye. He is very handsome so the fall back name will be Antonio (after Banderas).

Will post pics tomorrow! Fingers crossed they are still getting along - I think this one will take a bit of time to happen.! But -- yay -- Parkin has company tonight, so does Cyclops/Antonio who's also been alone for several weeks...

That's great news Katie, I so hope it all works out for lovely Parkin - and I love the name Antonio for a piggie! Sounds like a handsome little devil! :))
