Well so far, OK. They had a run today together for an hour outside (only an hour as the sun went in and it got v cold so I brought them all in sharpish) and were cuddling together when I went to get them. Still at opp ends of the cage now, but seeming to tolerate each other. Don't know how you tell if a bond has happened, as Parkin still looks depressed on his hay. He hasn't got enough atm to go under it, as it's now in a hay rack to aid the bonding process. No blood, but no licking either. Is this a good sign?

Will post pic later - having a 'mare with my electronics atm mallethead

well no fighting is great, sometimes it takes a while for a bond to develop, depending on personality too.
My other boar pair, Flinn and winston do a lot of tolerating, winston likes flinn and follows him everywhere but flinn likes his own space so he'll get in his hidey and winston has to sleep outside lol.
But they'll wheek for the other if they're seperated so sometimes they can be more deeply bonded than you know.
It's early days but most piggies know quite quickly if they're going to tolerate the other or not, hopefully theirs is a bond that will develop over time, Parkin may also be grieving still but having a friend is definately a good thing, definately something to keep him busy :)

So, we had a fall out this evening, squeaking and nipping and I was all ready with towels. However, I took them out of the mega cage they are supposed to be great in, and put them on the floor in the sitting room with nothing but a stick of celery for company. And hey presto, we have bonding (I think, touch wood). Although Parkin is the one with two eyes, it's almost as if he hasn't noticed Cyclops was there, or if he had, that this was a possible friend! Keeping a close eye, but it looks a lot better. Here they are:-

Boys! Honestly, as bad as my sons!

x)x)x)x). Awwwww look at them sharing :). Very good sign if the share veggies. Is Cyclops just a baba?

Officially not - he was described as an adult - but looking at him relative to other newbie Lulu who is perhaps 13 weeks, he's not much bigger. I am told he is more than five months though, and he is old enough to attempt to be dominant but young enough that Parkin isn't mounting him the whole time. He has apparently already fathered a litter of three which are almost ready to go now, so adding all that up, he must be around that age at least!

I have very much got my fingers crossed not only for the immediate future but that he is old enough for the bond to last and not fall apart.

It should be ok as long as its always just those two together. Alvin was about 5-6months old when he decided Theo was no longer the boss. But it was totally my fault as through lack of knowledge I introduce a very palcid OAP. It was my worst decision veer as sed OAP only lived a few months and the boys never ever went bakc together again :(. I really believe that if I ahdnt done that all wouold have been ok.
It sounds very optimistic. How much does he weigh? It may just be that hes a bit of a runt, although a very lovely runt I have to say xoxo

Well Cyclops is 620 g compared with Lulu who we know is ten weeks old, who weighs 575 g so he could be a runt - probable with his eye missing - or not.

Anyway, if not a match arranged in heaven, at least they seem to be rubbing along ok, and sniffing each other out fairly well. Shared some greens today and no chasing or humping. So I *think* we might be there!

I'll be posting a sep thread about whether anyone has any tips on how to look after his eye, now that I am fairly sure he's staying!

Yay!
