Today i collected a piggy off preloved. He was on the free ads section of here. I rang the bloke on Saturday (ithink) and asked if he was still avaliable and if i could come get him. The bloke obviously didnt give a damn and just said "yeah just come get him". I asked if he had a name and he laughed and said " I dont name them!"
Well i went today and got him. They wouldnt let us in the house. He took us through the back garden full of dog mess and chickens and at the back was loads of hutches. Babies piggies only a few weeks old in with 4 rabbits and the piggy i was picking up in there aswel. Therefore there probably pregnant if girls. It was horrible! They just dont care! soo upsetting. The place was a mess. Just wish i could of done something 8... the people were so rude aswel. He took him out the hutch and chucked him in my carrier.

His soo gorgeous but really nervous (obviously). I wish i could of saved them all but at least i got him out of there.

Here he is

Ive named him Dudley and thats where we saved him from.

His feet are really sore and his nails are so long. I'm going to let him settle in tonight and will sort him out tomorrow with a bath and a pampering.

I know he was obviously used for breeding but i couldnt leave him there! regardless of any others maybe taking his place.

aww,he looks like my ruby! cant believe how people dont respect their family members, my piggies are my babies. well done hon

he is lovely looking, how horrible maybe others could go rescue some more? guess they'll get replaced though!

Oh Chez, you done right! He is lovely! I would report this to the RSPCA. So glad you got him! Everyone has a lilac but me! :(|)

Good luck settling him in! x

i think i should report it louise! and yeah piggiepooh thats him! the bloke getting rid of him is a horrible bloke isnt he! Thanks for posting him on the free ads though! so glad i managed to save him x

Poor little chap! :(

I am 110% positive that with lots of tlc and love from you that Dudley will do extremely well. He will reward you 110 times over when he has settled. It will probably take weeks but he will get there.

It is so sad when you know that people are keeping animals like that, but well done for helping Dudley.

this is so sad, another case of neglect - I am glad that you got him and I am sure he will now get the best love and care ever x>>

You've done the right thing - he is totally cute and lovely. I'm sure as others have said he will do wonderfully well with you with lots of cuddles and all your pampering.

I would call the RSPCA - and possibly the council - if he is selling animals he would need a licence

Oh how awful. Yes, glad you rescued him and the name Dudley is cute :) Just feel sorry for the other animals at that awful place :(

I couldn't agree more - it takes a lot of time and patience, but he will reciprocate so much trust back to you in the end.

It's awful when you see these conditions but have to leave them, but at least you have changed the life of one lucky little man.

Dudley is gorgeous :0 and with lots of tlc he will come around, glad he s safe now with you, shame about the ones that are left there, but as others have suggested, report him, people like that make me so angry

Well Dudley makes me want to cry everytime i look at him. the fear in his face is so horrible. I left his some veg last night. His nibbled on a bit of carrot but other than that he hasnt moved. When i stroke him he has a lifeless look on his face. All my piggies were nervous when i got them but this lil piggy looks like his given up hope on a nice new life
I need to bath him tonight, he really smells and i want to put the lice and easy on him. Also his feet are red raw and his nails well overgrown. Do you think he will be ok me doing this since his so petrified?
I will put 110% into this lil man and make sure he can see that he deserves a great life! i Just hope he will see it :( In was only going to get him to foster and then find a new home but i really want to keep him now.

Also i cant stop thinking about the other piggies. should i ring him and ask if i can come get them even if he wants money? i dont know what to do for the best. This is my second rescue so I'm finding hard and cant stop seeing the images of the mess they were in.
Any advice would be great x

If at all possible I would hold off on the bath - unless he's crawling in lice, is he? Poor fella. Make sure he's getting fluids (syringe if necessary), try some grass to get him to eat (put some water on it so he's getting more fluid that way too).

As for the others - very tough call, that one. They will haunt you for ever (I know!), perhaps worth phoning and saying this pig is lonely does he have any others that could go with him? Just to see what the situation is. Did he offer to sell you any others when you were there?

Or you could say your friend wants some, does he sell them etc?

Hope Dudley is ok

Sophie

PS - if he's been used to being outside and is now indoors, I would cover his cage over with a big towel or blanket - it can really freak them out being indoors if they're used to a hutch

Thanks sophie. The bloke didnt say anything to us. we asked him questions but he just grunted. He didnt even mention the other piggies, he just grabbed them and chucked them to get them outthe way of Dudley :( I think I'm going to have to at least text him and see if i can get some. I just dont want to pay money to the creep. I might text and offer a home to any other unwanted but i dont know if that would cause more harm then good.
When i get in from work ill give him some water in a syringe as his not touched it. Ill also get grass like you said but his ignored the parsely and brocilli. I can lay off the bath but i think i will need to cut his nails which he wont like as they may hurt him the lengh there at now. Also what do i do about his feet? there so red, you can see slightly on the second pic. I have some cream from gorgeous guinea which i will put on. Anything else i should be doing? i think just a big cuddle tonight will do x

I have no advice - (there are plenty of people on here with far more knowledge of rescue piggies than me) - but i just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU for rescuing this little guy.

I am full of admiration for people who set up rescues (one day i will) and just wanted to say how amazing you, and all the other rescuers, are. :<>

I live in Swadlicote, South Derbyshire - and regularly travel to Bristol - so you are in the middle. If i can ever help as part of a piggie train for you (or any other rescues) please just pm me. I love driving and would travel anywhere to help a piggie. At the moment this is all i can offer, in the way of support.

Again THANK YOU for all you are doing

Rachel

Chez, thank you for rescuing this little guy! He is adorable, he will come round eventually.

Bepanthen is good for sore skin, you could use that until the GG Perfect Paws arrives. I'd guess, given the state of the place he lived in, his feet are red to urine scald. Poor chap.

What a handsome piggie, he is the spit of my Sydney and I got him for free along with Percy. Thankfully, mine were ok physically, but very frightened, as they had been passed from pillar to post goodness knows how many times.

I am sure with lots of love, time and patience, Dudley will come round.

Sending some piggie kisses from Noel, Percy, Sydney, Toffee, Ginger & Jeff x

Have just caught up with this thread - what a story! It must give you nightmares to leave the other pigs there!

Give poor, beautiful Dudley your love and tlc, and he WILL come around! Even if it takes some time to get past his reflexes...

Aw hun I cant imagine how it must make you feel looking at poor Dudley's fear, I have had a lump in my throat just reading about it :( He will come round with time and will love you so much for being good to him

He is lovely :) so many sad stories out there. Personally, my advice would be to concentrate on getting him well and not overloading yourself with more piggies. I know its hard, but it is easy to become overwhelmed. Phone the RSPCA and report him though I doubt they will do anything.

Can you bed him on vetbed which will help his feet until they are better? and yes, I would cut his nails as this must be adding to the discomfort.

awwwwwww Chez you're so lovely to do this xxxxxxxxxx
Dudley is just handsome as x)x)x)x) i can see his sore tootsie 8...
I'm sure with your TLC and all the food he can eat (poor boy he probably has never had broccoli before :()
Well done darling girl xx>>>xx>>> xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
