Somethings wrong with Squeaky (swollen area around genitals)

Great news!
Squeaky has had his operation, and the vet said the first thing he wanted to do was eat (which is a really good sign) and he's recovered from the anasthetic really well. And the lump has been fully removed! We're going to go pick him up in an hour or so (the vet wants to keep an eye on him for a bit longer, just in case he takes a turn for the worst)
I cant wait to see him again, the house seemed empty without him (even though he's only been gone since 8:30am :)) )

We've just got home from picking him up.
He's fine, looking a bit shocked but still nomming away on some hay :)
It turns out the lump wasnt an abcess at all!
I've got some pictures of the lump , Anyone want to see them? Its a bit gruesome though...
The vet had wondered if we wanted to send the lump off for testing to find out more detail about what it was, but that would cost us £50 more, and as the testing wouldnt affect his treatment in anyway, we decided not to.
I wasnt expecting him to make it this far if I'm honest!

Is it normal for him to be quite subdued? Over night he hasnt really moved or eaten much, and now i'm holding him he seems a bit quieter than usual. Is this normal? :{

It took Wally Whisker the entire weekend to get over the GA, but from what I've read since about eye removal I'm not surprised as it's quite a lengthy op. My Mom took AGES to get over her GA when she had a varicose vein removed, others bounce back quicker, I think it's different for each individual. How long was he under for? It may take a while to get back to normal, keep a close eye on him and feed him critical care at regular intervals if he's not eating. Have you got some pro biotic as well?
x

Yep we've got him some pro-biotics which we've been feeding him for the last few days.
He was under the anasthetic for about 45-60 minutes.
He did eat some hay last night but i filled his bowl with his favourite veggies (cucumber, spinach and celery) but they havent even been touched and he shows no interest whatsover when I put them infront of him, which is very unusual because usually he would scoff the lot in a matter of minutes!

That's quite a while for a little piggie to be under, it probably will take him a day or two to shake the GA off but obviously take him to the vets if you're worried he's going downhill. You will need to feed him if he's not eating, Wally was very subdued all weekend and then suddenly picked up on Sunday evening and was back to normal. :laluot_29:

Aw bless him :) Daisy was very quiet the first night, but by the second night she was trying to break back into the main cage (I sectioned off the C & C so she had her own "wing" ) lol rolleyes

Can he see the others/his friend at all? Have you given him some pain relief? He may not eat if he is feeling any pain, which will take a few days to subside. Seeing his friends may cheer him up a bit. I noticed Daisy didn't eat much the first night/day but she was on Septrin to start which doesn't affect their appetite. Try doing some "poop soup" for him from one of the others & syringe it gently into his mouth.

Update

Hey, just a little update for you all,
Squeaky has really perked up, and is back to his usual mischevious self!
He's eating and drinking fine, and shows no pain :)
We are taking him back to the vets tommorow just so the vet can assess how he is, its just because she likes to have another appointment after any operation so she can make sure that the stitches are clean and theres no infection.
He absolutely hates the baytril, bless him but he adores the metacam and cant drink it quick enough!

So glad he's perked up. :laluot_11:
