Thank you, she is a very brave piggie indeed, she must have been very uncomfortable. I feel bad in one way to have put her through it but, with a mass that size, I can't imagine she could have coped if it had grown much larger. Wish she'd have been spayed earlier but vet didn't want to risk it as they said cystic ovaries don't often cause problems??
Anyway fingers crossed for her safe return.

Indeed fingers crossed! It is so strange that it seems to have grown so much in just one month.
Poor Rags, I hope she will recover soon. I think it was the right decision to have the operation done now. In fact, it might have been better to have it done earlier, but you could not know. 8...

I'm so glad to hear she's through the operation: it's a good job they didn't leave it any longer but it's so hard to know what to do! I can understand you being a bit wary of having her home too soon, but once the first few days are over it'll be good for her to be back in her own bed and with her family.

Bearing in mind your location, do you have to go over to Oban for the vets?

Well bad news I'm afarid. The same vet that said Rags could come home has called just a couple of hours later to say she'd died. I was just starting to get optimistic as, if they said she could come home, then obviously she was doing OK? But from what I've just heard she was not a well piggy at all and had been given the maximum painkillers just this morning. How could anyone say she would have been fit to come home. We had a chat about what could have been done differently, perhaps to help another piggy in the future. They didn't think draining cysts was a good idea because of the risk of infection - though I know it can and is done, and it might have saved her a 4" scar. I wish I'd have pushed for her to be spayed a month ago when she was first x-rayed and not accepted that "cystic ovaries don't usually cause problems". I'll go over and bring her home in the next few days, back where she belongs.

Rest in peace, sweet little Rags!

You were such a beauty and some vets are just not worth their money and our trust!

I'm so sorry to hear about little Rags. You did everything you could for her. You should not blame yourself in any way xx
