Hi

Has anyone had experience of a boar getting regular sperm rods that you need to remove? I have posted about this before, I have 2 boars and one of them (Rocky) has a persistant issue with sperm rods that require removal every few days. They are very big and uncomfortable for him when being removed. I wondered if anyone had any experience of this and if it is likely to stop or reduce as he gets older? He will be 3 in June. Picture of them both at Christmas (Rocky is the all grey one). Thankyou

🌈 Tofu had them frequently from 3-4yo - he had quite severe arthritis which I think made it harder for him to get them out himself. I had to check and remove them most days - boars!

I have 7.5 year old male and yes, he has regular sperm rods, about every 3 rd day. I lean him back against me, use q tip and clean area and then IF a rod, it shows it self…I make sure it fully exposed , grab with a Kleenex and pull straight and gentle so I get “the tail” that is in the urethra! I then apply some Vaseline and he is very appreciative! On his well check in July, my exotic vet says, “its a man thing” and keep monitoring is all I can do. No UTI , eats drinks fine. A first after 6 males in past 17 years.
