Yipee, its the weekend which means its only one and a half days before I can collect Colby and bring him home to join my girls.

I'm preping up ready, building a corrall with my spare grids for them to meet in on neutral territory.

Just getting the pet carrier ready for him and was wondering, usually I fill the girls carrier with newspaper and then lots of fluffy hay on top so they can eat and bury themselves in it if they get scared. But, when I spoke to his fosterer at the beginning of the week he still had his stitches in so I am wondering if I should put vetbed in instead in case the hay iritates/pokes his sore bits?

Am I just worrying too much? Never had a guinea pig who has had surgery before so I might be over-stressing.

Any advice gratefully received

No idea I'm afraid. Just wanted to say how jealous I am. Colby is stunning. x) Hope all goes well. x

Vetbed would be good, just a small handful of hay for him to nibble on...how long post-op is he?

6 weeks today I think, he was neutured. I think he is healed and the stitches should come out by themselves but I just want to make sure

Thanks flips. I am so excited. I hope they get on well quite quickly as the corrall I am building will have to go in the bathroom and will take over the room so we will all have to sit cross-legged until they are happy to go into the main c&c together!

I reckon after 6 weeks he's going to be okay with soft hay personally. That's quite a time.

But saying that I bed on fleece and vetbed so maybe wrong.

What's the plan? How long will he be side by side?

Ah ok, he should be ok on hay if that's your decision, wasn't sure if he was recently neutered or not. :)

I use Vetbed for all my carriers as standard but it's a very useful bedding for the first week or two post-op. Their skin does heal very quickly, Colby should be just fine.

Good luck!

I am hoping it won't need him to be housed seperately. I have built a playpen out of grids and when we get home will put him and the girls in there with some fresh vedgies for distraction and then see how it goes. Am hoping that by nightfall they will all be happily together in the freshly cleaned main c&c.

Thats the plan anway:-)
