Oh my goodness! I know I live in my own little bubble world, but I didn't realise it was this bad :( We've had severe gales here in Sheffield today with trees down and structural damage, but I live around 600ft above sea level, so no flooding.

I really hope everyone and their pets are safe. x

Hope everyone made it safely through the night and everyones family, friends and pets are ok! sending my love to all those effected

Phew - thankfully the storm moved so quickly that the surge ran ahead of high tide so far less damage and flooding than could have been. Commiserations to anyone whose property has been flooded - it happened to me once and it's not a pleasant experience, especially dealing with the insurance claim afterwards.
I have to say I have been very impressed with the emergency response/evacuation procedures that went on yesterday and into the night. Hopefully it will be at least another 60 years before we have to face something like this again.
Please remain alert during high tides today and into this evening as there are still some severe flood warnings around for coastal and estuary areas.
