Sudden Paralysis in Back Legs

I’m a petsitter and this is my insurance! I’m also DBS checked! I provide pet boarding and pet care home visits.

She really should have insurance cover. So has she confirmed she definitely doesn’t? View attachment 275674
That is good of you to share, do you know if legally this boarder should have insurance?

I’m really not sure. I have insurance for my business ‘Little Badger’s Pet Care’ and also for the charity ‘TEAS’. They are two separate entities and although they’re run from the same address I prefer to keep everything transparent and above board!

I’m so sorry for your loss

Yes a single sow can live next to a single boar but provided the cage is secure so that he cannot climb the bars to get in with her (a lid and the grids being cable tied is a good idea)

Thank you 🙏. There’s no chance that Peanut will be climbing but it’s good to know that they can live next door to one another. I just want Peanut to recover first and I’m praying he will ❤️

Gosh, that’s just astonishing. Really anyone could set up a small pet boarding business as I don’t think a licence is needed 😢
It’s frightening! The same with running a rescue! Anyone can set one up! I really wish pet businesses and pet rescues had to be registered or licensed.

I know you must be completely overwhelmed but is there anyone who can contact the boarder for you surely they should bee trying to help you in some way 🙏
She’s not trying to help at all tbh even though she is upset of course… but she’s not offering any help 😢x

It’s shocking isn’t it? I think I need to investigate this and do something about it. There’s clearly no regulation at all. It’s just horrendous!

This is one of the reasons that I went for registered charity status for TEAS, as I wanted everything to be transparent, as there is no other registration process!

Try and enjoy some time with Peanut and look after yourself! This has all been so horrific and sad and you need to take some time out xx

Well done on doing everything properly. That’s fantastic. Yes I’m just going to try and relax tonight. It’s been an awful day, losing my precious Shaun, and an awful week since darling Biscuit died 😢🥺💔💔

We are all praying 🙏
Is he showing any signs of being more active/interested in things?
How long is left on his medications? X
So Peanut is eating just fine. He’s not moving around a lot as his hind legs haven’t improved. He’s finished the antibiotics but still has another week at least on the Panacur x
It means a lot that you’ve all been so caring 💕xx

It’s good he’s eating well! Hopefully you’ll start to see some improvement in his mobility very soon! I’ve got everything crossed for your little dude! xx

When my boy was sick he was on antibiotics for two and a half months.
I hope he recovered okay..🩵 It’s just been a very unusual situation and I’m not sure if the antibiotics have made a difference, but I’m praying that my boy will beat this 🙏

Aww thank you! I hope so too. Everyone on here has been so kind. I know you’re all rooting for Peanut. I just wish I could have saved my darling Shaun 🤍🤍xx

I’ll ask my vet if he’s ever come across anything like this? He sees a huge amount of guinea pigs, so may have. I’ll let you know what he says xx
Thank you, that would be amazing. If it had been just one of my piggies then it wouldn’t have seemed suspicious. The fact that all 3 of my boys were boarding in the same hutch, and after 6 days one suddenly died and within 12 hours the other 2 were partially paralysed, is not a coincidence. Now my darling Shaun passed away today 💔💔. I’m convinced they contracted something at the boarders, especially as there were rabbits in neighbouring hutches 😢xx

There's no way this is a coincidence.

I'm so so sorry Shaun has passed away 😞 Him and Biscuit will be watching over Peanut and you from the bridge.

I hope that perhaps a specialist can give you some answers regarding Peanut... it's so good he's still eating!

You may have already mentioned this so sorry if you have, but could you report the boarder to trading standards? Maybe try Citizens advice to see if they can guide you?

I would be demanding some information regarding cleaning protocols from the boarder. Were any of the same tools used with the rabbit used with the pigs too? Rabbits can carry a lot of things which don't affect them, but can cause serious issues in pigs.

How horrible and difficult for you 😕

You are doing incredibly well - stay strong for Peanut - everything you are doing to find out what has gone on with this boarder must be difficult for you, but it could save other people and their pets going through the same thing ❤️
