Thanks for asking Julie

Just popped in to say we were at the vets this morning and I discussed several things with Anne, including Vedras diagnosis.
We decided that we wont rule out systemic fungal , but Anne thinks it quite unlikely and as Sunny is on baytril anyway, to extend the course so it lasts 21 days in total. I upped the dosage on Friday evening from 0.2mls to 0.4 mls x twice daily as with a third leg becoming swollen, I figured the lower dosage wasnt enough to kick the infection, if indeed it is an infection. I was advised re dosage by Chrissie and Karen,
I do not recommend changing medication dosage without knowledeable advice, preferably from your vet.
If the baytril does not work, at least we have explored the infection possibilty fully and we can move on and try the itrafungal. Thanks to information Julie gave me

I knew that we could check for presence of fungal by having Sunnys poops tested. He very obligingly dropped 7 or 8 on my jumper so they are being sent to the lab. I will update with results.
I also found out from the "horses mouth" that Oxbow DO NOT sterlize their hay, so I dont know why Vedra said they do :-\
In himself, Sunny still isnt inclined to move (which is a good thing as he can rest joints), he sleeps on his back and will not eat or drink by himself. He will eat his favourite veggies sitting on my lap and me hand feeding them to him, the same with pellets. I am syringing him plenty of water to help rid his body of any toxins as well as 50 mls per day pro biotic to help maintain his gut flora as the antibiotic dose is now strong. I am keeping him on vitamin C too. I am keeping the hay as his bedding against Vedras advice at the moment because he cannot get to the hay basket, it looks quite funny as he eats it whilst lying on his back :smitten:
My vet, nor any other knowledgeable GP people that I have contacted have heard of this type of joint/limb swelling in the way it has happened one by one in Sunny and at his young age, he is 6 months. So hopefully we can find out the whys and wherefores and this can be of some benefit in the future. I did not realise how little information there is on GP's out there and for all their bodies are so small and you would think relatively simple, sometimes their symptoms are an incredible mystery.
Will update soon.
