We enjoy the work involved, but it is demanding and the piggies have to be the centre of the household, not a source of entertainment or an optional thing, low down on the list.
 
I even find cage cleaning has an entertainment factor due to the different reactions. Sir George waits until the penthouse is done then goes up to inspect my work. He then waits by the ramp until his posing platform is ready. He supervises until I'm done but doesn't check just yet. Master Boris, who will be in his cuddle cup, gets (gently, I like my fingers!) woken and encouraged to go upstairs. Every day he looks so shocked that it's clean and his "guard hut" is missing AGAIN.... Sir George then "helps" me tuck the clean fleece down the divider side of the other posing platform (bless him), then he finishes his inspection! Meanwhile Master Boris is glaring at me from the top until I've finished and say "snuggle time boys". They then wait on their platforms to be picked up ❤️❤️❤️
 
We just had cages cleaned and Chez is zooming. He's also dropping fresh poo on the coroplast.

Mom likes cage cleaning day because I don't ask to go in the playpen for some time.

Yuck, mom has to work five days in a row.

Hello friends,
I'm a bit under the weather right now. This toofie-drama has no end. I dont want to/cant eat. I'm clearly sad and angry at slave when she tries to feed me. I'm going to the vets on Monday.

Slave feels very sorry for me and is dramatically worried. She tells me like 15 times every day how in love she is with me and that I have to keep on fighting. I do hooman, I fight you 👾 I'm a strong little one.

Kongo? His toofies works very well, thank you very much. After this summer he's more hungry then ever before. And so happy. Everytime slave takes him up in the cuddlebox she has to ask him why it feels like she has an very big kindergarten-kid on a rave in the sofa?

I'm having forage to distract me. I had a playpen session. I tried to get under the curtain to Chez and mom would snap her finger. How rude! She always thought Chez would be the curious, brave one. But it's me.

Oh dear Djingis, it's worrying to see you struggling and not wanting to eat. You have to keep your good figure Little Bug. What will Miss Bramble think if you get thin? More vet visit too 🙁. Good to hear Kongo is happy and full of beans ❤
Stripe, play pens are so much fun. MS wishes we could share ours🐾❤
 
MS is trying to think of ways of expanding ours. She has her dights set on a guinea pig running track I think 🏃‍♂️🏃

Anyone of you have any experience of Gabapentin? I'm pretty confused about Djingis dose. Its very high - 0,18ml 2-3 times/day. Joe had 0,15ml 2 times/day and got so wasted that I gave him 0,7 two times/day the first days and after that 0,5. I dont know how to think right now. Should I give Djingis this very high dose as the ordination says or should I give him around 0,10 (also high)?

Djingis drives around his cage soooo drunk right now. He looks quite shocked over the fact that he suddenly CAN EAT! Mostly he eats veggies, but I saw him eat a couple of straws of hay too. Wow. For Joe it took a couple of days to really come back to chew right when he started to eest with the help of gaba, so I really hope Djingis has the same experience. My little Bugster!
 
And no, I did not give him 0,18ml. I started with 0,10 and it looks like that was more than enough for him. Right now he's doing a Kongo - stands on the veggie plate 😅

Sorry, I have got very little personal experience with gabapentin.

But if you have had a previous bad experience with the prescribed dosage from your Swedish vet, @exia , you may want to rather start with a lower dose and work up rather than work down this time.
 
@Eriathwen might have some tips for using gabapentin. It seems to metabolise quite differently in different piggies. Polo had some dispensed a long time ago to see if he had tooth pain, but he didn't really react to it. Unfortunately the print on the label has washed away and I can't see what strength he got.
 
It could be if a piggy isn't eating as much as normal it has more of an effect, but I wouldn't like to guess. Little Bug, you gotta get better sweetie ❤️
 
I'm afraid due to costs I use the 100mg capsules of gabapentin so the dose in ml would be quite different, I give 0.4ml of the suspension I make up, or did when I used it.

But that was a 40mg dose, if you know the mg/ml dose from the bottle we might be able to see how much difference there is but I cant say I'm good at maths unfortunately. The exotics vet did say much more than 30mg, she would expect some sedative effect, mine never showed any even at the higher than normally used dose of 40mg but that could have been due to the fact it was a powder and I mixed the solution up myself vs one made in a pharmacy.

Sorry that's not a huge amount of help!

We don't like when mom works a morning shift. We misbehave when she comes home.

No time for floor time, either.

It's getting dark earlier and pretty soon it'll be dark at 5 and below freezing.

But mom likes to take walks in the snow.

Djingis has the 100mg capsules, mix them with 1ml water and yesterday and this morning I gave him 0.10ml @Eriathwen like @Wiebke says I'd rather up the dosage if I see that he needs it, rather than start very high and he's all out of it.

Djingis always had very much energy at the evenings and nights, and he'd party hard... He was jumping around and ate alot. Its not going perfect, he struggles. Something is wrong in there. But until the vet visit the meds give him some relief and the courage to taste things and actually eat some for himself. But when its time for cc he's sooooo tired suddenly, and it takes ages.

Yeah, @Truffolo it really seems like this medication hits different. Joe would have been very wobbly and tired if he got 0.10. That only time I gave him 0,15 he was seriously nodding like an old junkie, totally wasted. Djingis got hyper. The weight pretty much the same - Joe was around 20g lighter than Djingis.
 
Teeth are such a problem when they go wrong 🙁 I hope Djing Djing's teeth get better and he can eat comfortably 🙏🐾

Its worrying that he's not getting better. The vet was optimistic about that Djingis could live a life without regular trims, but that he might need it sometime in the future. Like always with teeths, you dont really know. I really hope whatever is going on in there can be treated. Its so hard to see him suffer this way 🙁 he hates the gaba and tries to spit it out. But he hates the taste of metacam to, he just want that syringe 😅
 
I have a blast in the playpen but I was so naughty I had to go back in the cage. I kept trying to bite down the pillowcase that separates me and Chez. Mom doesn't like that.

Before that I zoomed and popcorned but then I really wanted to bite down that curtain. She had to hold it up.

She always thought Chez was the naughty one until I got playpen time. But I try and get in to all sorts of trouble. I teeth chattered when I couldn't get the pillowcase down. I head butt when she's in my way. She thinks I'm kinda a brat.

Polo: MS cleaned my grease gland with saline solution 🙁 I've been pulling at my fur around it. Stripe your grease gland is so white you are lucky 😒
