She's lost 100g over two weeks, nothing obvious wrong with her. She's eating, drinking and interacting with me and her cage mates. She seems to have taken to sitting outside the wooden house, fluffed up when alone though.
I'm giving her metacam once a day to see if it's pain related, but apparently not :/ Not sure at all what is wrong, because all other behaviour is normal. She's just turned 4, so I don't think it's age related, more like she's depressed.

Poor Bonbon, I hope they get to the bottom of it tomorrow, and it's nothing serious.
Sending vibes to you and Bonbon.
xx

Thankyou @Chief Guinea Pig, I can't help but think she's still mourning the passing of Treacle and Humbug, even though it's been over 6 months now. Can a piggy really grieve this long? She's never been the same piggy, I know that much :(

I think piggies are like humans. They can grieve a long time, or not long at all. They're all different.

I'm considering finding an animal communicator as well as vet treatment, as I feel I need to get to the bottom of this now and quick. She's gone from 980, to 880g and I'm getting worried as she's clearly slipping :(

She's not gone too thin yet, but her coat seems duller, and lacks luster. I've also noticed she seems dirtier, and I have to bath her frequently.

Oh poor thing :( hope she feels better soon. This sounds so odd, but if she is depressed or lonely maybe play some sound clipc of happy piggys or stream some happy piggy videos on youtube, it may cheer her up as she thinks there are other pigs around?

I've had a really bad run with the piggies this year, If I loose her, it's an end of an era, as she is one of my special tribe (pictured on my avatar). I love all my pigs to pieces, but because Humbug went too soon, I wasn't able to integrate truffles into the herd properly, and it went a bit Pete Tong for a while, with Truffles bullying Tilly a bit. Things have finally started settling down between them, and now this.

I'm so sorry for your run of bad luck.
I am here if you need to talk.

@MissBubblegum , she has two young sows as company, I just don't think they'v bonded with her quite the same, maybe she's not letting them in, as she worries they will leave her too? Tilly does try, she sits with her a lot,

poor bonbon. :( definitely worrying with the weight loss. i hope the vets can help.

my maisie had prolonged grief after ches passed, even though she was with eddie two weeks after. she was happy with eddie, but it did take her a while to fully let go of the grief.

Poor girl, would it be worth giving her a course of Metatone tonic? It tends to help boost pigs who are run down for whatever reason. Obviously that would be in addition to a vet visit.

Dose is 0.5ml a day for one week and 0.3ml a day for the second week. You can buy it from the vitamin aisle in any supermarket. It can help stimulate the appetite too.

I dont know if others have said this but get her back teeth checked, our piggy lost lots of weight suddenly as she had an issue with her back teeth. she appeared to be eating but she wasn't, swallowing. Apparently its common in indoor guineas (not sure if yours are), Its probably nothing like this but its always worth a check. hope she feels better soon.

She did have her teeth checked about 6 weeks ago when she had a water infection, but they were ok, they'll probably check them again tomo.

Thats good, just make sure they check the back teeth not just the front, Patch had a check up 6 weeks ago and it didnt show up as an issue. sorry bit paranoid about it at the moment.

The cyst we thought she might have is no longer evident, her lungs are clear, but when she squeals for food, she sounds really hoarse, and her droppings are more tear shaped than normal and a little lighter in colour. She goes back in a week for a check up. In the mean time, what else can I give her to help her feel better?
