Taking Bonbon To The Vets Tomorrow

The cyst we thought she might have is no longer evident, her lungs are clear, but when she squeals for food, she sounds really hoarse, and her droppings are more tear shaped than normal and a little lighter in colour. She goes back in a week for a check up. In the mean time, what else can I give her to help her feel better?
Did the vet guess what it could be?

He thinks her gut flora isn't balanced quite right, and it's maybe gastric. She's bright in herself, and made his life very hard when he checked her teeth. I think he's just covering for in case she has the start of a URI.

Hopefully she'll tell me in her own way whether it's working in the next couple of days. Thankfully i'm on nights from the weekend, so have three days of easy access to the vets at opening hours before, and i'll be off when they are open next week.

If the droppings are tear shaped she may have slight gut transit issues, did the vet not suggest any kind of gut stimulant.

As I said on your Septrin thread I am surprised he gave you antibiotics for it but am wondering now as she is hoarse if he thinks there may also be something going on upper respiratory wise.

Does she nod when she breathes?

We posted at the same time. If her gut flora isn't right I think she needs a course of probiotics, especially now he has put her on antibiotoics which will upset things even more. Give the probiotics at least an hour after the Septrin though.

I did ask about probiotics to which he said she didn't really need as she's eating ok. I've got some in the fridge anyway which i'll give her shortly, as she's not long had the med. She doesn't nod when she breathes.

Good there is no nodding. I would keep the probiotics going for the whole Septrin course and then at least a further 10 days after.

She's usually the loudest at feeding time. The mouths opening to shout, but not much soundwise is coming out.

My Buzz was like that as he got older but he had systemic fungal issues, not sure if the two things were connected.

Every time I pick her up for a cuddle then put her back in, she zooms for the nugget bowl or hay, she's there now stuffing her face. She already seems to be feeling a bit better, fingers crossed :)
I've given her two syringes of water mixed with pro-c, she's due her med at midnight, and a final dose of probiotics at 1am.

6 weeks ago she had a urine infection - sadly this can precipitate stone/sludge formation.
Septrin antibioitic - whillst being recommended for urine infections in piggies over baytril - it is now considered a double edged sword. This is because it has been recorded as forming crystals/cystitis in the bladder of other animals. My vet is now dubious about using septrin for UTI's.

Personally I would be asking for an Xray to check for both uninary (sludge/stones) and gut (gas/obstruction etc) isues to (hopefully) put your mind at rest and rule out anything untowards

With probiotics her poop are already better formed and there is a noticeable change in her, brighter and happier. The vet I've seen today is not our usual one. I was surprised at the meds, as I expected baytril and fibre pled.

She's not squeaking when she pees, plus it's been nearer 4months since uti, vet confirmed previous visit being in April, couldn't believe it had been that long. Cyst previous vet had felt was gone.

It does sound like gut problems then and the pro-biotics are helping. Hope she comes good soon.

Well, she wasn't sat in the same place this morning where she's been sat for the last 5/6 days. She wasn't fluffed up or dull looking either, she was sat in the house with Tilly, watching me.
I'd like to say she's gained weight over night, but she's lost a bit more, which is a shame. Her appetite seems better though, she's alert and looking for nice things to eat, and you can see where she's been burrowing into the hay bed looking for tasty bits. I give them a flower basket every week or so, and it's her favourite treat, she's been mauling that :)) Up until yesterday it hasn't been at her side like it usually is.
She doesn't like syringe feeding at all, but then she does seem to have a mouth full of food anyway so how to feed a pet who's got a good appetite but doesn't want any extra help?
The only thing that has been missing from her diet is the king Timothy hay, couldn't get any the other week, but got some yesterday, so she's getting access to good quality fibre again. Her dropping are perfectly formed again, and the right colour.

That sounds promising, I know there has been a shortage of Alfalfa King as I had trouble getting it too and now I have it is really stalky and they won't eat it.

How much extra has she dropped? could it be linked to her being a bit more active?

I think so, she's lost about 15g :(
It was quite funny yesterday, as every time the vet tried to get a look at her teeth, he kept finding mushed up green stuff on the lens. But he did get a good look at both sides and her teeth are fine. I've dealt with a few poorly piggies in the past, and this girl has me stumped. Good appetite, she eats everything put in front of her too.
Everytime I syringe probiotics, it dribbles out a bit green as she's always got a mouth full of food. Not that i'm complaining, it shows she's interested in food in general.

She's been doing laps around the new wooden house I bought for them, full pelt. A piggy feeling better maybe? I had them out tonight on floor time with access to nuggets and alfa, she never stopped munching :)

Well she maintained for a couple of days, then lost a bit, but she is in season and being a right hussy. Her and Truffles have been busy mounting each other for the last couple of days, and chasing each other, so guess that's how she's burning the extra calories.
She's really bright, first at the door at feeding time, highly opinionated at syringe time, and tonight has taken to grabbing the nozzle out of my hand. If it weren't for her weight issues, you really wouldn't think any thing was wrong.
She is BonBon, the little terror who reigns over her two young friends, telling them whats for :))
I'm going to give her until wed, then go back to the vets to see if trying something else would work for her, i'm leaning towards investigating her bladder, to see if the problem is coming from there. She not squealing when she wees, she's showing no discomfort at all, she's not on any pain management. She's no longer fluffed up and sitting in one spot when I walk in the room, she eagerly watches for me or my Oh for the next piece of veg.
She's so adorable when she's stood at the door, sticking her nose up at me :))

Did you say something about moving house (new wooden floor was it) do you think she could have been stressed because of that ? x

They've moved into a bigger accommodation, which I'm turning into a two levels, they've also moved rooms, into a busier place, me and oh spend more time in there.
The first night she barely came out, well none of them were active, but they are now settling nicely, and have cottoned onto the fact they get fed if they shout loud enough.
