My guinea pig is doing something weird and I don’t know why. I gave him a carrot this morning and he tried to bite it but for some reason could not. I went to school thinking he just did not want the carrot but when I came back he did the same thing. My entire family keeps saying that it’s fine but I am worried and wonder I’m someone knows what is going on and if I need a vet.

Thank you😁

If your piggy is struggling to eat, then yes you do need to see a vet.

Hay is the largest part of the diet so you need to be sure your piggy is still able to/is eating enough hay. Please ensure you switch from the routine weekly weight checks and instead weigh your piggy daily so you can gauge hay intake . Step in with syringe feeding a fibre rich recovery feed if your piggy is not able to eat hay properly and is therefore losing weight

Hello and welcome to the forum. I agree. It’s best to nip any dental issues in the bud before they become major and your piggy can’t eat anything. The only way to see if they are eating enough is to weigh them daily to see if they are losing weight. Good luck.
