Adult Guinea Pig
Cally broke his top teeth around a month ago and stopped eating or drinking.
I was told to file down any sharp points and then syringe feed him until he started eating, he hasn't started eating for himself yet although will nibble at readigrass and veg, he eats veg very slowly but attacks it the same as my other pigs.
We took him to our rodentologist and had his back teeth checked, they found ulsers on the back of his tongue so with syringing we started giving him daktarin, nothing seemed to be improving then I noticed he started hooting when breathing so I took him to our vets.
She said his chest was clear and the tongue was still pink but looked to be healing, we were given Emeprid to try and push his gut and increase his appitite, she also gave him baytril which I couldn't get changed to the other brand, to help with the ulser healing. I gave him 0.35ml of baytril last night and 2 0.4ml of the other stuff last night but when i started feeding him this morning, he dribbled poop all down me, watery with a bit of jelly, it made me heave because the smell was so strong. He hasn't got any in the cage & hasn't had any more as far as I'm aware but has a bit of white stuff coating the opening of him bum.
I noticed on another post Critical Care would be good for an animal not eating my boyfriend is collecting some from the vet tomorrow. Will it come with instructions as I can't rememeber using it.
Cally is still active, clear bright eyes, hooting doesn't really happen all the time, seemed to be just before bed or just woken up.
Any experience or advice on how to bring his body up to scratch would help. I'm feeding him 60ml of runny poridge like excell a day, i was told I didn't need to syringe water as it was runny enough though, but i do clear his mouth out with it so it's not just caked in the stuff.
