My first pouch cleaning today. No impaction but Sir George had a big clump of hay hanging out.
THE SMELL.....

It’s an awful smell isn’t it my OH refuses to be in the room when I have to deal with Tofu’s impaction. Nothing quite prepares you

Boys off to the vet soon. Master Boris has not been himself and started hooting earlier. Sir George is not quite right either. Probably be getting lots of yummy syringe stuff!

Obliging is a big understatement! Master Boris will be absolutely delighted to get his own meds instead of a diluted taste of Sir George's.

Back from the vet, Master Boris was very well behaved even when he had his temperature taken. He has some raspy sounds in his lungs but we have caught it very early. The vet thinks Sir George has sterile cystitis and Master Boris being unwell has stressed him into a flare up. We do know that Sir George has been letting us know that Master Boris is feeling off colour.
Both have antibiotics and metacam, Master Boris was indeed very happy to take both.

It's the first time Master Boris has had metacam instead of water with a taste of it. He's looking very content (and a little bit out of it) at the moment.

Oh, I hope Master Boris and Sir George get better really quickly. I know they will absolutely get the best care anypig could get from their slaves

Sounds as if your slave instinct was spot on and you caught the problems early.

Healing wheeks from my boys to yours! Hope they’re both feeling better very soon, and Master Boris continues to enjoy having his own syringes

Master Boris is loving all of his meds and is extremely chilled afterwards. We will probably take the opportunity to cut his nails later, I'm curious whether he will still scream the place down?
Sir George however does NOT like this antibiotic, he definitely prefers baytril. It's not really a problem (he never is ) it just means I have to take him out of the cage.
Pro c is ordered and arriving tomorrow as I can't use poo soup with both of them on meds.

Your boys are so good. I don't know what I'll do when Chez gets sick. I've had him a year and so far not even a hay poke.

I mix a pinch of Pro-c with a small amount of water and syringe it in. Thea had 3-4ml of it 1-2 hours after her Baytril. She loved the Pro-c mixture and would actively look for it.

Glad they’re both doing well with their yucky meds. Pro C helped Patches when he was on antibiotics too. Good idea to try a nail trim while they’re on metacam!

Master Boris is happy for ANYTHING from a syringe. Last time Sir George was on baytril I thought the last bit topped up with water would put him off but no.....
Thanking every slave and piggy for their well wishes. The vet and nurse said they were the best behaved and calmest piggies they've ever seen. So Master Boris must have been feeling very poorly.
