Are pea flakes a good treat for piggies? If not what’s the best treats that aren’t too unhealthy, not keen on purchasing treats like the fruit drop ones or anything that seems fattening😀thankyou! X

Hello,
My Finn and Lara love baby carrots. I believe it is their favorite. I don’t give it daily maybe 3-4 times a week.
Mine also love herbs and fruits. All their treats consists of herbs, veggies, and fruits.

Herbs and fancy hay are the healthiest treats, also hay cookies that are just compressed hay, or readigrass that is a very rich dried grass, and dried forage!
But a slice of carrot or babycorn, or a small piece of fruit, are also ok as occasional treats. I would avoid any shop bought treats, as well as being unhealthy many piggies dont like them- they are usually much more keen on hay and veggies!

Are dried forage such as dandelions okay to feed them? How often would you give it

Mine love a small treat. They love blueberries, melon rind (guinea pig crack), cherry tomatoes (Dennis loves a Marto!), a bit of banana skin, half a segment of clementine, strawberry tops, coriander (cilantro), dill.

My girls can’t resist a rare piece of watermelon!

Hi!

The best and healthiest treat is not to resort to treats at all but to turn normal feeding time into fun and enrichment time.
Housing, Enrichment and Seasonal care

Our diet guide contains a chapter on treats. If you really feel you want to treat, use a pinch of readigrass or dried forage. But be aware that piggies are very good at manipulating you! Give them your small finger and they'll take the whole body!
