The Great Debate Of Bananas And Oranges

Clearly Gizzy was stating that all is ok in moderation and esp when pigs have a poorly tummy or have soft poops.

Like humans.. The last thing we are advised to eat with a bad stomach is fruit.
I have to disagree.
"the only time i use a tinny amount of frute is to tempt a pig that is off its food
and then only a tinny peice to get them thinking about food"

(S)he was saying that you shouldn't feed them fruit unless you need to to help them start eating.

If you feel the need to cause friction over a simple statement within a healthy discussion thread about fruit I shall say no more.

On the flip side my boys dislike both. :)

at present treatig all my pig duw to a poo problem cauesd by moldy hay
the first thing my vet advised was to keep them all off frut and veg untill
the poops have been normal for at least a week

also many years ago a pig was handed into piggy palace that was literaly sitting in watery
poo, l can still see the pittifull state he was in.

it took manny weeks of no frute and veg,

l realy though the little was was going to die , i have never seen a pig so dehidrated and emasieted.
but after a long long hall , and the help of my vet he pulled through and lived happily for many yeary

I do like a happy ending. Poor little mite

Sorry, it seems like i have had a lot of poorly pigs, but i run a spsial needs sanctuary (rescue) piggy palace!
and the critera for a pig to come live at my place is that they have got long term care needs

NO NO dont apologise was just acknowledging it was a happy ending. It's nice to hear of a poorly pigs recovery :)I admire anyone who takes the time out and the hard work to care for any animals in a rescue setting. As we know from many others it is certainly not easy.

thanks guys , my bad realy, i decebed on the foram like a bull in a china shop,
if i am not mistaken I was so proud of one of Robin , one of my torty (head tilt pig)
and how well the little man has come on over the years , that i juat needed to
make folk awrer that these little one are often pts , as soon as the condition is noticed by the breader .
though some times they fall throgh the net and and up at the pet stoor
Robins story
A freand of mine saw Robbin at P at H , she asked if she could buy him and they told her no, he is not for sail
as he is a regect , ( his fate was looking pritty bleak) but my freand persavered and said she new someone who
runs a spesial needs rescue , she persevered , and the little one probabaly ows his life to my friend.

anyway , since then i have been advocating that not all rescue pigs shuold come from rescus ,
spare a thought for the pet shop regicts , there ocasionaly turn up , and need love and care just like
any other pig

I didn't realise people were still posting on this thread! I thought it died before the 20th of July heh

I agree with gizzy reading the above posts though. That aside, thanks for the replies :D

Mine will eat a little grape but that it for fruit. Strawberries, blueberries, banana, kiwi, orange segment all get left aside.

Give them some fresh grass, new hay or kale and they go nuts though !
