Brillo was such a character, he entertained the other piggies and was the patriarch of the herd, they may not all live in the same cage or even on the same level but they work the humans as a herd! The others were quiet for a few days and then each pair got rumble strutty and grumpy for a while, they seem to be settling again now thank goodness. When we buried Brillo in his pot next to Red a rainbow appeared. That happens a lot when we lose the piggies, I'm not really superstitious or a believer of signs but it's uncanny how that happens. Spike and Bracken got a thunder clap and some of the other's have had rainbows, someone got a small feather land at my feet, can't remember who that was.
Health check day to day, when I was cutting his nails Fizz bit me, yes quiet little Fizz. I was so surprised, it was quite a bite too not a little nip. Luckily I was wearing a thick fleece top with a long sleeved t-shirt underneath, he still broke the skin on my arm though. Brillo was a biter for many years although he mellowed more recently. I hope he didn't instruct Fizz on the art of biting in his last few days, he was a devil for getting you when you least expected it, he nipped a few vets over the years too!
Timmy has lost weight again, it was too much to expect not to be worrying about at least one of them. I was hoping to have a little while off the vet visits and medicating. Timmy just having 2 x daily Metacam and 4 joints was fine we were getting into a nice routine. His xray didn't show stones or a thickened bladder so it looks like my bank account is going to get hit for more expensive tests. I've been watching him and he eats so well, as soon as I top the hay up he's in their munching, it's not one strand of hay either, he picks up mouthfuls of the meadow. I'm hoping he is just adjusting down to an old piggy weight but it's back to syringe feeding top ups for a few days, I will have to see how he goes over the weekend and make a vet appointment next week if no improvement.
