The Pigglingtons

Have you tried adding a bit of mashed banana into the syringes feed.
Mine all loved it and it does help with weight gain.
I also put a small dish of CC with banana in the cage to encourage eating.

Press some cucumber"juice" in it? If he eat pellets, soak some in water and mix with cc. What watery/juicy veggies does he like?
My Joe was really hard to syringe. We soon agreed he could get a leaf of basil every three syringes. He was more motivated! And then he had a date with CC papaya. Omg. That was goooood!

Timmy was helped over the bridge this morning. Since his xrays just before Christmas he had developed a problem with his lower teeth and jaw, the vet thought probably an infection in the jaw bone. The xrays had shown arthritis in his spine and hips. He also had suspected cystitis at that time which had flared up again recently. This morning we also suspected a renal problem. While I was syringe feeding him for the last 2 weeks I had known in my heart this was palliative care, he would brighten a bit for a few days and then go off again. Yesterday morning I discovered he had dropped 40 gms over night despite syringe feeds the day before meaning he had stopped eating what ever little he had been managing for himself. The feisty boy who in the past had tried to jump off the vets table and put up a fight when being examined sat there today with no reaction, so sad to see. The vet did say I could bring him home with more painkillers and carry on for a bit longer but agreed with me that it wasn't fair on Timmy to keep him going any longer. We are going to miss him so much.
Freddie has been quiet for a few days. I think he knew how bad Timmy was. In a day or two I will try Freddie with Parker and/or Snoopy, (Parker is a bit less hyper and probably the best bet for Freddie), if we get a successful pairing the other piggy can go by Duck and Bertie for company while we decide what to do next.

He is popcorning painfree at RB reunited with the Pigglingtons Rainbow Gang causing mischief I’m sure

I'm so sorry you lost your Timmy ❤️ you did a fantastic job caring for him.
My Kongo waits for you, Timmy. He promised to be nice. He's to fat to popcorn, and he can teach you to do some happy seizures on the RB ❤️
 
Freddie has only been eating if we put food in his hidey, he seems very depressed. He has been in a bonding pen with Snoopy for about half an hour now and it's not going as I expected! I thought I'd get the unlikely one out of the way first and then try Parker but this isn't going too bad so far. Freddie is fine with Snoopy as long as he doesn't try to mount him then the grumbles and head butts start but so far very mild rebuffs. Snoopy is too small to reach to mount Freddie anyway so fingers crossed this will work. May have to have name changes to Little and Large!
Tried to get photos but they both dived into the corner covered by a blanket and it's too dark.

Freddie has just had a nap with his head buried in the hay pile while Snoopy pinched Freddie's favourite corner. A very noisy grumbling is now going on, Snoopy does not seem to understand Freddie is not interested in rumble strutting or being told what to do. Come on boys just sort it, you make a lovely pair.

Still together in the bonding pen. Very pleasantly surprised, leaving them for tonight, they are in my bedroom so I should hear them if they do kick off.
Parker now has a pen on the floor next to Fizz and Fuzz (causing mayhem!). The room looks so much bigger now the top floor of the stacked cage has gone but with an uneven number of piggies I needed to have one on the floor.
 
They are back downstairs in the cage. Snoopy was a pain for about an hour but seems to be settling a bit. He wants to hump Freddie and be top pig, Freddie's not putting up with that and Snoopy's to small to reach. I've put the hides in but they might have to come out again for a while as Snoopy wants to lie with Freddie and the hide's are too small for them both. At least Freddie is tolerating him, poor old Freddie he had to tolerate Timmy The Diva now the humans have landed him with another little twerp. 🤞
 
Not the evening I was planning. Snoopy suddenly realised Freddie wasn't going to have a go at him and went in for a chasing hump fest! Poor Freddie wasn't allowed near any hay or the water bottles. If he went to one end of the cage for hay he got chased to the next hay pile an then to the next but wasn't able to stop to eat. He laid in a corner completely flat, he was so unhappy I could just pick him up without a struggle, he will usually only be picked up in a carrier. He snuggled into me and he's not done that before either. I think Snoopy is too young and boisterous for him. Timmy and Freddie were never piggy's to run or popcorn.
I rearranged the cages, Parker and Snoopy are back in a divided cage and Freddie is next to Fizz and Fuzz who were also upset by all the goings on and started rumble strutting and mounting. Freddie has eaten loads of hay and peace has settled over the room again.
I think Freddie needs an older more laid back friend, he doesn't deserve to get upset like that. I'd love to see them all with cage mates but not if it means any of them being bullied.

Bann made that decision for me after he went for Mourne, but tbh knowing Mourne it would've gone in the same direction even if Bann hadn't snapped at him. Seeing how much happier they are after the young one is out of their way says it all, really. Not that it helps you at all but at least you gave them the opportunity.
 
@piggieminder I’m just thinking out loud here. But as you know Pebble is on palliative care at the moment. Would you have room at the inn for gorgeous Patrick? He’s a very laid back boy and might just be the right fit for Freddie? Absolutely no pressure and I may even not be able to give him up when the time comes ❤️

I would love to have him if they got on. I have applied to a rescue today to see if they have anyone suitable but don't know when or if anything will come of it. No rush if it's meant to be the timing will work and of course you may not want to let him go. If Freddie finds a friend in the meantime you won't have any problems finding Patrick a good home. I have wanted another silver agouti in my life for a long time they are my favourite, Patrick would be a dream come true.

Hopefully Pebble will be around for a long while yet with your loving care and perhaps you will feel able to keep Patrick and find him another friend. Life has a habit of doing what often turns out for the best and not quite what we thought it was going to! You have enough to think about at the moment looking after Pebble.
