The Wheaky Beans herd

Merry Christmas to everyone on this forum.

Sadly the Wheaky Beans lost the Queen of our herd Cappuccino (pictured centre) but 2025 has still delivered lots of wonderful memories and laughs too.

Macchiato and Espresso are both merry and bright and so Pig Slave will follow in their stead. Happy Holidays!

Both girls are now living the Loxicom life - Maccy for liver related pain and Espresso has been diagnosed with arthritis. Maccy has her ups and downs but seems to be coping well after her liver diagnosis although I can’t say her daily Denamarin (cat liver supplement) has helped much. Her weight however has remained stable at around 860g so she is now dwarfed by petite Espresso who now looks like a wee bruiser in comparison!

Espresso is enjoying a lot of rumblestrutting (not sure if she’s asserting herself as Queen Boss now Maccy is getting frailer…she’s had her ovaries removed so hoping it isn’t hormonal rather than dominance..and when she tires herself out, she retreats to her favourite donut bed!

I spoke too soon - with less than 24 hours before pig mum jets off on holiday, she’s discovered a grape sized lump on Maccy’s neck 😭 Fortunately, she seems very happy otherwise so we’ve got a vet trip booked for as soon as possible after we return. They always seem to know when you’re about to go away and want to thwart your relaxation time!

Macchiato and Espresso were the best of coffee beans while their slave was away on holiday and their temporary (but at least paid) slave took excellent care of them 😄They were relieved to see their daily routine was upheld including prompt delivery of evening herbs and a generous handful of readigrass. Their review - exquisite service ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I hope Macy’s lump is nothing serious - let us know how she gets on 🥰
I hope Slave had a good holiday - seems ‘ the Wheaky beans’ were well looked after and enjoyed theirs 😂

The vet took a sample from the lump on her chin. It doesn’t look like an abscess. He said it’s similar to other lumps on her body and is possibly thyroid/cancer related. It would’ve cost £200 to send the sample to a lab to have possibly confirmed this despite already deciding never to put her through another surgery again. She’s had several blood tests but there’s never been enough blood sample to run the thyroid test. I’ve spent £1000s trying to get to the bottom of her extensive medical problems but have finally decided (in conjunction with the vet) that with this, along with her failing liver, it’s best to keep her comfortable on the loxicom and make the most of every day I have left with this special piggy 🥰

Meanwhile, her younger relative Espresso is loving life as the alpha female now and is becoming bolder by the day! 👸🏼

Sounds like Macy’s is living her best how she can and with a devoted slave to make sure she does ❤️
I’m glad the lump didn’t add to Macy’s mescaline condition anyhow
Espresso is clearly enjoying bring top pig 😂

Macchiato has been making crackly sounds all weekend. We were at the vets today (£££’s later) and now have furosemide and antibiotics - a two pronged approach for potential URI or more likely, heart issues. I have a feeling she doesn’t have long left but she’s comfortable and eating all her treats next to her daughter Espresso. I’ve never experienced having an elderly palliative pig before. If anyone has any advice, it would be much appreciated. She seems to be very relaxed and getting on with things for now.

I’ve just come across your thread and read it from beginning to end. I love your Wheakybeans ❤️ although I am sorry Cappuccino has crossed the rainbow bridge and for the health issues of Macchiato and Expresso 😞 But what a dedicated slave you are and they’re living their best life with you 🥰

Sorry to hear Macchiato is struggling with these health issues. Wishing you and she comfort and more time together ❤️

Thank you for your kind words ❤️

Caring for a terminal piggy isn’t easy, it’s emotionally draining so look after yourself.
When I’ve had to care for a piggy who was in the latter stages of life I made a point of giving them lots of happy todays. They had their favourite food and extra treats.
I took as many photos as possible and made lots of good memories.
Be aware that you are already grieving.
This is a natural process under the circumstances.
We are here to support you as many of us have been where you are.
Hugs 🤗

Oh I’m sorry to learn this 💔
Sweet lovely Macchiato - popcorn freely at RB 🌈
Take care of you @thewheakybeans even tho Macchiato was a palliative care piggy it’s still hurts so much
Sending love and we are all here for you

I’m so very sad to read this and so sorry for your loss. I’ve only just read through your thread and have enjoyed getting to know your beautiful piggies. No matter how much we know we’re doing the right thing for them, it’s still heartbreaking for us. Sending love and hugs.
