The Wheaky Beans herd

There’s always that guilt during grief of also facing the future with a renewed sense of optimism when acquiring a companion for the remaining soul left!

We are just on our way back from the rescue with a 1 year old neutered boar who I’m hoping to name Martini to pair with my sow Espresso ☕🍸

He’s currently healing from his op with the required 6 week post-op wait but excited to give Espresso some interaction with them living side by side until April.

Wishing you all the best! I’m in a similar position, on the waiting list with a rescue for a single sow.

Ah how lovely - good luck with everything

For the last few weeks, Espresso has been wagging her bum through the divider and Martini goes wild. He’s squeaking, doing zoomies and synchronised rumblestrut dancing alongside her. They seeming keen on each other is an understatement.

Finally the day of bonding grows near…
Hopefully it’s love at first sniff (or hump!)

We are still waiting patiently for a suitable companion for Espresso after Mr. Martini lunged for her during two bonding attempts and bit her nose :( I never knew bonding could be so complicated.

Oh I’m sorry to hear that. Bonding piggies is one of my least favourite things to do; it can be so stressful! I hope she finds another friend soon.

Good news - the rescue has another neutered boar available for a bonding date with Espresso so we will be collecting him on Tuesday and sadly returning cheeky Mr Martini so he can find his future soulmate (his previous name was Egor!). They’ve also had an influx of 12 possible pregnant females so there’s now lots of possible companions for lots of piggies :( Not the Easter surprise they were expecting I imagine!

It’s good that the rescue have another possible friend but sad they also have all those potentially pregnant females too. Really hope this chap has more manners and Espresso likes him!

Fingers crossed. It will be another waiting game until the end of the month once he’s cleared his 6 week post-neuter period before they can be introduced. Not going to get my hopes up this time until I see how the bonding goes!
