I’ve got 2 Buttercup ones that I’ve had for over 2 years and both are fine …they are indoors tho

For the beetles I recommend spreading diatomaceous earth around their cages. It dries out their exoskeleton and they die. It’s been a busy cleaning day at Wheaky Beans HQ as Aperol is still itchy with mites and I also found wee beetle things crawling around their cage
Ive been frantically deep cleaning everything, F10’ing it all and mopping under their cage etc. This is the second time in 2 months I’ve done this and they’ve had two ivermectin treatments so hopefully we’re over the worst of it!
Thanks I’ll try that around the base of their cages. They are raised up with table supports underneath (which aren’t actually needed) so thinking of removing the tables too as the beetles are probably hanging around there under the coroplast. For the beetles I recommend spreading diatomaceous earth around their cages. It helped me keep ants and earwigs out of my boys cages.
Just don't put it in the cage
That’s reassuring so hopefully it’s just her hormones going hay-wire! I was starting to wonder if the vet hadn’t removed all of it and that’s why she’s acting like she’s in heat againI think even after the ovaries have been removed, there is still some sort of hormonal activity so I think it could be hormonal in part at least![]()
Thanks, I’ll administer a third time and hopefully that’ll do the trick. The cleaning feels never ending! The piggies seem fine though, just slightly scratchy now whereas before it was the Itchy and Scratchy Show.I hope you get rid of the mites soon. Ivermectin should be administered three times in one treatment cycle so that not only the adult mites are killed.

Thank you. I’m going away for a new nights this weekend so hoping to see less scratching when I return! I woke up to find them both doing a little zoomie before nugget time. Espresso never zoomies!I reckon you’ve cracked it !
I noticed after the third dose that everything was normal again ….
You become a bit paranoid after ….every little scratch you think is it … but that goes too
Good luck with a settled routine and scratch free piggies![]()
Could you maybe export some of that rainy/cooler weather to Germany? We need it badly. After three weeks of rainy/cooler weather, the Wheaky Beans duo had half hour of blissful grass munching today. They were also delighted by their lettuce from the organic farm down the road and leftover fennel stalks from their human’s tea! They really are spoilt!

I've got 12 of these, some are 3 years old, 2 are 1 year old. I've had four break around the screw holes recently. I understand nothing lasts forever but one of the broken ones is one I bought last year. I have reported this to Buttercup and they are saying they have probably been over tightened which I'm not sure about if they are not tight enough they move around. I really like using these holders they make life so easy but they are not cheap. Buttercup have offered me a discount code which I'm waiting for but still wondering if I will just go back to using the metal hook on holders with the springs that came with the Living World glass bottles I used to use.I’ve just noticed the fancy water bottle holder I bought them last year has crackedIt’s made of 3D printed plastic so think it’s too brittle to tighten with screws. I’ve ordered a hook-on one to try out instead. Why is it difficult to find a decent water bottle holder?!
I’ll try and fan it in your direction!Could you maybe export some of that rainy/cooler weather to Germany? We need it badly.
That’s unfortunate yours has broken too. I read on their website their 'Won't Go Back' guarantee is valid for 14 days only. I think it’s just the nature of 3D printed plastic - it’s brittle and prone to breaking. So far, I’m liking the ones I purchased off Etsy as it’s a solid block of plastic which simply hangs off the side of their cage. It’s the ‘Scalloped Water Bottle Holder’ by CamSteCo. Still early days though as I’m not sure how long the hooks on it will last as they are thinner than the rest of it.I've got 12 of these, some are 3 years old, 2 are 1 year old. It’s printed using layers of plastic which can have gaps in between which is why it’s a lot lighter than solid plastic if that makes sense. That's interesting about 3D printed plastic![]()
It worked! This early morning after I'd had all my windows wide open for 2 hours (since 5am) I actually had to briefly put something long-sleeved on.I’ll try and fan it in your direction!![]()

My husband has treated himself to a fancy camera so I will be playing about with it too. Espresso offered her services as model until the shutter sound made her retreat. Aperol hid in his cottage, scowling at me the whole time!
I hope you feel better soon.Pig mum has been very sick with a stomach virus but thankfully pig dad has been dutifully delivering the piggies their hay, nuggets and veggies as normally scheduled. They don’t care who serves it as long as the food keeps coming!
