Hey there again

My gi gi lost his cage mate a while back and he has been fine ever since no behavioral issues (maybe a bit bitey and not the cuddly type of pig!) But seems rather happy , however I am seriously considering getting him a new cage mate.
Nearly everyone says you should never introduce two ADULT males as they can fight, but I am confused about this. If you introduce a young baby male, surely it could decide he wants fight once he is old enough. So my question is , is not less risky to introduce two adult male guinea pigs as their hormones are settled and are introduced slowly to various others? Not saying that introducing a baby and an adult is a no no I understand that, but is not the same risk as two adults? I am in so much confusion right about whats best for my pig. I would not want to neuter him as I think it's too stressful for him,he is a nervous pig. Sorry for all the rambling! :D

there are many ways to introduce two male piggies, when i got auggie he had been separated from his brother in pets at home, due to having ringworm, i took him home, then two days later i took home his brother rocky, they had been separated for at least a month the staff in the shop said, i tryed at first just putting them straight in the cage together silly me, they started fighting, then i decided to put them in their play area within 5 minutes they were best friends, the normal thing to do is get another cage, or a devider for the cage and let them get to know each other, smell each other, etc, gradually allow them play time together, if this works try putting them in the same cage or take the devider down, hopefully this will work, please remember if * are bringing in a new piggie quarantine, him for at least a week or two to ensure he has no medical issues.

It is easier to introduce a baby to an adult but that doesn't mean you can't introduce two adults, it just means that the latter is the easiest - and don't assume all baby boars will be a perfect match because our Wally Whiskers (r.i.p) was terrified of the first baby he was introduced to on his boar date, it was the second one he chose to be his new forever friend ( r.i.p Rocket). The trickiest situation is two teenage boars.
I would highly recommend a boardate at areputable rescue. The best pairings are when the boars can choose each other. Then of course the usual rules apply to keep two boars happy - plenty of space and two of everything!
The Potteries Guinea Pig Rescue and The Walsall RSPCA are in your vicinity and i knoiw that they both have piggies right now looking for forever homes - why not gve them a call and have a chat?
Good luck. x

Thank you, I've emailed the walsall rspca branch about two days ago about a baby piggy that's suitable waiting for a reply fingers crossed haha and just to be sure how old would teenage piggy be? mine is over one year I should say. Walsall don't offer pairings of two separate pigs unless they are already paired :( But did your two not fight once the baby one had grown to an adult size? As I've heard they can suddenly decide to not like each other which is what worries me :( Thanks for the advice! :D

No they didn't fight. Rocket looked up to Wally Whiskers like a father figure. They adored each other. Talk to Helen at The Potteries Guinea Pig rescue. There's usually plenty of boars looking for a home and if a rescue knows your looking for one they can offer your boy a date before they pair all their singles boars together. Give her a call/email. She can give you plenty of advice and help. Re: Walsall, what I think they mean is that you need to take your boar to them to see if they'll bond which is after all what a date is all about: http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/...alsall-RSPCA&p=1474626&highlight=#post1474626
