Stupid question- for our patchy lawn I am thinking of adding some Timothy Grass. Can I just use seeds from our haybox hay or do I need to buy commercial seeds? Apparently they take 7-14 days to germinate. I’m going to experiment but wondering how others have got on previously with growing their own.

I have got some to grow and they look rather nice with their wavy seed heads, but I think it is quite a slow process. I had them in a window box with morning sun. They would probably grow better in full sun. Not sure what kind of soil to use. Commercial seed might be treated with pesticides, fungicides and herbicides so the seed heads from hay might be safer 🌾
