Wll last you ar going up thr. Still, thos osags ar still high for th 0.1& ivrmctin, if you look at th link abov i post.....

hop it all gts sort - shoul shoul mntion you ar not happy paying bcaus you int gt clar instructions in th first plac. i woul rfus to pay an spak to th practic managr. Its just not accptabl.

your totally right it's not acceptable, the bloody vets over here don't have a clue wish I was over where you lot are to talk to people with some feckin brains

Don't worry about it Moonie you've been great! She said he could use the whole tube I'm calling another vets for a second opinion
 
You should have been given xeno 450, the one you got as for small rodents such as mice and is much weaker. If they were out of stock of the xeno 450, they should have said and ordered some in or you could have got it at aother vet.With Tobys weight, one capsule of the xeno 450 should be ok, he is a little over 1kg.

If I'm not too late in replying, ask for the xeno 450 and get a refund for the other stuff. If the havent got it, ring around other vets as most keep it in stock.

I know it's soo darn hard to read different scales some are awful to decifer...but this just doesn't quite add up...:{
Toby must surely be more than that weight wise xoxo
Can you get him weighed elsewhere so you can then check your scales?

thanks his actual weight was 1kg 148g lol scales weren't set! rolleyes He's off this evening to the vets to get the proper dosage Seriously thanks soooo much you guys! You've made me very happy and welcome here x>>
 
:)) youre welcome! let us know how you get on. They still may say the other stuff is ok, which in a way it is, but as its weak and designed for smaller rodents, I think its too hit and miss and may not work properly, even if you do give 3 capsules :{ Also, 3 capsules of weak stuff is possibly more expensive than 1 of the xeno 450.

As he has eight drops of the weak stuff will this effect how much I have to give him with the xeno 450 stuff?
 
Xeno mini is for baby pigs - I got given this at my vets, and they would only sell it in a pack of 9 (I only had one baby pig at the time!)

Xeno 450 is what you need. Hope you get it sorted!

Its hard to say....I would ask your vet about that.

I dont know what the percentage is of the active ingredient (ivermectin) is in your capsules..it may be that its the same as xeno 450 but in smaller capsules! If the percentage of ivermectin is less, than it becomes more confusing.
Put the vet on the spot and ask what the percentage of ivermectin is in the 8 drops + a capsule of xeno 450 (if they have any).

To be honest, as your pig is over 1kg, I would say one capsule of xeno 450 on top of the 8 drops he has already had will be fine. If your vet has no xeno 450, it will be ok to use the other stuff but he will likely need a full 3 tubes and another 3 tubes in 10 days time. It just doesn't make much sense to me that they didnt give you a more appropriate dose in the first place :{
 
Ok, I found my leaflet for xeno 450 and it contains 450 micrograms of ivermectin per pipette (capsule).

One capsule for bodyweight 800g-1.2kg.

Edit to add: If you told them Toby weighed 135g, that would be the reason they gave you the stuff for minis! If they weighed him an prescribed it, they were mistaken!

I weighed him after I went to the vets lol but good news he's still on the xeno 50 but she gave him the equilvilant of what he would have got with the xeno 450 he has to go back in two weeks for the xeno 450 and then less drops will be used obviously than before:)) But he should make a great recovery. I'm so relieved! :<> And his little scabs are drying out naturally and she said are healing quite well. And his mites isn't as bad as I thought and she said the treatment is working because she couldn't find any mites on his hair ;). Thanks guys for all your support!! x>>
 
Oh crumbs Kerry what a to do - I've only just caught up with your thread. Hopefully you've got it all sorted now and Toby will be mite free very soon. Give him a chin scratch from me.:)

Thanks will do :pWell he has his treatment and it roughly two weeks he should be feeling much better :))
 
Aww I am glad its all sorted, he is a handsome fellow, he looks a bit like my Lennie! I'm sure he will be himself in no time xx>>>
