I get very nervous about bladder problems, as I've lost two piggies to that in the last year. So when Tofu (4yo boar) started losing some weight and got mucky from sitting in pee, I took him straight to the vet. He was squeaking when she felt his bladder. She put him on baytril for two weeks and said to keep a close eye, as there was nothing definitive pointing to a UTI but it could have been an early one brewing
He's been on baytril for a week now. He has perked up and is much happier, but I've also seen a couple of bright red pees. He's squeaking occasionally when he pees, but only maybe three times in the last week, nothing like as often as when I've had previous piggies with bladder problems. I've got some vet bed for his favourite nap spots, but I'm still needing to give him regular bum baths/wipe downs (every couple of days).
He's also had several giant (and I do mean giant) sperm rods. This is the fourth one I've removed this week. 1ml syringe for comparison purposes

He gets sperm rods occasionally, more so since he's had arthritis, but nothing like this frequency (or size!). Could they be a sign of something wrong? I am dreading that he might have a bladder stone, he's turning five in January and with his general condition I'd be very wary of putting him through surgery. He's on both metacam & gabapentin for his arthritis and he has impaction too, as well as problems with his eyesight
His weight is down to 1103g this morning. He's normally 1250g, he's been down to 1120g the last few weeks, hence the vet trip & baytril. I'm offering him some critical care with Pro-C mixed in, but I'm not sure how much I should be aiming to get in him. He was maintaining around 1120g until this morning
