Yea, as Helen said, too many tomatoes an cause sores around the mouth. My big boys love a cherry tomato each once or twice a week. It makes such a mess though!
Agree with everyone else, yes they can, but not too often, mine have half a cherry tomato or those mini plum tomatoes (there is a posh name that I can't remember!) every now and then.... but mine are fussy too, they pick them up with a puckered lipped mouth, eat a bit and spit them out!
Tomatoes can be given daily. I remove the seeds - which removes the acidity and the problem of mouth sores - and most of my lot adore them. I usually feed cherry tomatoes. They won't touch them with seeds in.
I give my piggies tomato a couple of times a week, and I find that they leave the seeds and the mushy insides behind, and just eat the firm skin on the outside.
Given they leave the mush behind, it makes it a nightmare to clean off my carpet!
