My poor Zelda is having bloody urine again. She was on antibiotics for almost a month before the blood stopped. She has been off antibiotics for about 3 or 4 weeks now and it is back. No wheeking in pain. No change in appetite it behavior. No weight loss. My doctor said we could try more antibiotics then an ultrasound or I could just go right to the ultrasound. I decided to just do the ultrasound so I can hopefully figure out what is going on. Hopefully it shows nothing. Very nervous 😔.

If there are no stones and no infection then it could be Interstitial Cystitis. There are loads of threads on here with piggies with IC. If it is IC it is often managed by diet (grain free and reduced calcium) and cystease or similar. I hope you get some answers. It’s such a worry for us when our fur babes are so poorly.

Good that you are going straight for ultrasound. I went for an xray for dot. She has had blood in urine since june on and off. Nothing showed up on xray apart from a lump on her bladder wall. Still dont know what is was. She was diagnosed with intertestial cystitis in the end. Antibiotics wernt working. I switched her to grain free nuggets and upped her water intake by wetting veg and flavouring her water bottle with a little vetark pro c powder.

Btw she had pain whilst peeing and pooing, still no stone showed up. She doesnt have pain anymore

Fingers firmly crossed!

If there is no stone or sludge, you and your vet need to look at interstitial cystitis (IC), a recurring non-bacterial inflammation of the bladder walls that doesn't react much or not at all to antibiotics. Treatment of a the symptoms is usually by metacam (which is an anti-inflammatory as well as a painkiller) and with cystease, a glucosamine based cat food supplement that helps protect the inflamed bladder walls. IC is at the moment not curable and can only diagnosed by default. The good news is that it will eventually go way on its own and that it is not causing stones or shortens the life span. The bad news is that this won't happen any time soon. You are typically looking at years rather than months.
Acute bouts of IC typically recur every two months, but the intervals can vary quite a bit.

Thank you so much!

I had to go for the ultrasound. I would just be worrying until I did. Hopefully after it I can have an idea of what is going on. Hopefully not stones or cysts. It seems to be about every three to four weeks she is having bloody urine. I know I noticed it a while back, but when I took her in he didn't find anything in her urine. Now I have test strips. Not that I needed them this time because it was obvious to the eye. I took a sample in yesterday for him to do another urinalysis.

Urinalysis showed blood, bacteria, and white blood cells. Back on baytril until we get the results of the ultrasound. Man she hates baytril 😂. I am sure they all do though.

I had to reschedule Zelda's ultrasound for tomorrow. Hoping it all goes well, however there is still blood so my hopes aren't too high😥. She is so beautiful!
