Could we be about to see the magical 800g? It's now two weeks since Pops started eating completely independently and her weight has been gaining steadily.

Such a lot has happened since 30th June last year when she stopped eating completely. Five months of total syringe feeding, then managing a little moistened food, then the odd nibble of veg to the complete turn around two weeks ago when she started eating non stop!

She's still having regular dental checks, and probably will continue to do so for life, but I would to say to anyone who is experiencing dental problems with their piggy, never, ever give up! It can be a long, hard road but it can happen! Pops is living proof of what a good vet and a piggy with attitude can achieve!

Woohooo. Go Miss Pops, i knew it Debbie, i said you might just be surprised & she may hit it before she sees "Uncle Simon." Have you checked her pockets to make sure she's not cheating :(|):(|):(|)

Pops is the amazing one! She's never given up!

Don't think she's got any pebbles in her pockets Niki, but will definitely check! :(|) I have told her that we will make sure her feet are nice and clean before she sees Uncle Simon on Monday, so once we have washed all the crap off them then she could weigh considerably less! :(|) :(|) :(|)

You're forgetting good owner too, Debbie. A good vet and a piggie with attitude would both be nothing if it weren't for the fact that Pops has an owner who was willing to go through so much with her, to stand up for her and to help her survive. The combination of a good vet, strong piggie and good owner makes for the best chance a piggie could have at recovering.

Will keep watching this thread and get the champagne ready for when she hits 800g!

Thanks Laura! Yes it's been a long haul, and very hard work, but worth every minute! In the early days I used to get up once and sometimes twice every night to syringe feed her. Initially I would set an alarm, but Pops made sure I didn't forget her. She would start to shout when she was hungry and if I didn't go straight away the volume increased until I did! Without doubt, it has meant total commitment, but the bond we have between us is so special.

Of course once she hits the 800g mark, we will be setting a new target, little by little we are getting there. It's hard to believe that not so long ago we were struggling to hit 600g.

YAY! Pops, you go girl! you little fighter, you can do it. love to you debbie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

You must be so tickled! Pops is a special one, isn't she - and you are a very special owner as well!

Congratulations!

Well done Pops, Debbie and Simon! she is an inspiration and a credit to you xx>>>

Now is this the little devil who steals syringes and eats CC off the cup?

We are seeing Simon tomorrow night, and I would so love her to make it by then, but at the moment she is hovering around the 780g - 790g mark. She's been munching non stop for the last couple of hours though, so she might just do it!

Watch this space!

Go Pops - you can do it !

Fantastic news that she's doing so well :)

Teresa x

It certainly is! :)) Patch wasn't too well last weekend and I made up some CC for him. She was straight up at the cage bars as soon as she smelt it!

she sure sounds like a cheeky litle madam... Finlay was the same with the mushed pellets we used to make for Bertie... except he's not quite mastered the technique of eating froma syringe and he has a distinc white/pink nose ans always ends up looking like he's been up to no good! :))

I'm really glad to hear that Pops is doing so well...

My darling little Pops Possum i'm so dam proud of you xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>
Debbie all those hours of wondering if she'd make it by herself again..........you all did, You, Simon and then our brave and courageous girl Poppet x)x)x)

As you know when you told me that she was eating by herself i just started to cry with absolute relief.......HUGS for you darling you've done a brill job.
I do hope other people now can take something from this, it can be done!

GO POPS POSSUM WOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO

Thinking of Pops and you today - and hoping that you can surprise Simon with 800g. Better get something to toast with!

Oh wow, so close! Very exciting, I am quite sure she'll be well over 800g in a weeks time. Keep going Pops, you're doing fantastic!

Still - that is so good! I'm sure you'll make it, Pops!

I love Pops so much! xx>>> You are just so lucky to have her, and for her to have you to care for her so well!

Pops are you a little darling and you have a great mummy to love you!

Great news - let's hope that mummy has toasted you with a special cup of your beloved mush!

But Pops - don't you think mummy's getting just a tad greedy now? Not that you will get there in your own time, I'm sure...
