I'm so sorry for your loss;

Aww sounds so traumatic. I had to have my Pippin pts on xmas day and the vet said they would give her some gas to send her to sleep and then inject her into her tummy. It cost me £29 - they were the emergency vets on xmas morning. They didnt charge me to see a vet which was nice ..think they took pity on us as I was sobbing.How do they usually do it? She told me that was normal. I'd even asked for him to have anaesthetic gas first so he was unaware (said I was happy to pay more) and she said it wasn't necessary! X
Glad you also had a kind vet for that difficult time. There seems to be variation in what our vets do. I had a piggy PTS last month and I was with him for the whole process, gas and all.So sorry for your loss. And your traumatic vet experience previously. The vets can't let you be in the room when they do the gas however my vets have previously taken my pets out the room done the gas and then brought them straight back through so I could be with them at the end.
Thank you all for your support last night. She died very peacefully in her sleep. I'd bought her in bed with me wrapped in a towel to try and keep her warm! Will Bury her in the garden today X
When we lost a guinea pig quite suddenly when she was two and a half, just before Christmas, we bought this for my son who was 8 at the time. He'd hold it when he talked about our BlueySorry to hear that Bear passed. I'm glad for you and her that it was peaceful and she was able to pass in a familiar loving environment - your instincts were right. Also hope your son is ok, it's always upsetting losing a beloved pet but at the same time a good opportunity, when the time is right, to perhaps make something to remember him by. My son still talks of one of our previous pig 12 months on which just shows how much our little furry friends are treasured.
Sending you and your family big hugs ❤
