My piggy Poppy has one normal black eye and one with blue and white cloudiness.
I collected her from boarding yesterday and she was fine then.
At the moment she is tucking into some kale.
Please help!
I don't know if it is serious or not and if they need to go to the vets now or tomorrow.
I have googled it and it looks like fatty eye or cataracts!
I will attach a pic.

It could be a hay poke as when the eye forms an ulcer it can look blue. If it has come on suddenly I think it is more likely that. I would get her seen but I think it can wait until the morning. She will need some eye drops and pain relief.

Thanks. I am so worried and all the vets are closed.
At the moment she is outside, would you bring her in to keep an eye on her?
Fingers crossed she's okay.
I was planning to celebrate Halloween but that can wait.

It may be best to, but bring her friend with her, that way you can check she is eating ok etc. Is there a vet open in the morning? they will most likely put a green dye in the eye to check for damage.

aww bless her it does sound like it could be a hay poke if its come on suddenly as helen said, eyes are fragile things & if you feel it looks bad enough to take to the vets tonight then take her, but try ringing the vet first & see if its ok to bathe her eye with boiled then cooled/tepid water, if you have a egg cup full size quantity & dissolve a pinch of salt in it. gently flush over the eye with a clean syringe (if you have one) or put some clean kitchen roll (non fluffy) in the water & gently drip the salty solution in her eye. if its any debris in it hopefully it will flush it out, if she'll let you just see if you can see any grass seed in her eye from the hay,
i have had one of my girls with one of the fine dangly seed heads got under the eyelid & was rubbing the eyeball. if you can remove any foreign body without doing any further damage to the eye then try it, but if you're not confident to do that then vets visit it is i'm afraid :(

my vet told me to bathe the eye as above & get her checked out in the morning, although i noticed mine on a friday night so took her for the drop in surgery on the saturday morning.

i would phone the vet for advice & get her checked as early as you can.. a general vet will be able to treat her, i wouldnt worry if they're not an exotics vet on this occasion & it'll probably be cheaper too

The vet gave some painkilling eye drops & used a dye to see if there was any damage, i was prescribed tiacil or fucalthmic? spelling? eye drops & it cleared up nicely in about a week.

healing vibes & shes a very pretty piggy ,

I have moved them inside and they are eating the soft hay.
I know the cage is a bit small ( 100 cm long ) but I can monitor them and they have more chance of hurting themselves in the hutch which has a ramp.

Let us know how she gets on. Some eye drops should hopefully get it sorted. Well done for spotting it. Sending lots of healing vibes.
