Right here we go. Luna regularly has these symptoms:
Loud wheezy hooting, runny nose, grunting nasal noise, particularly loud when she's eating, washing herself and walking about.
Uri yeah?
She gets every symptom of a uri all of a sudden and 90% of of the time it's completely gone by the next day. It's got to the stage I've learned not run straight to the vet for abx because it's more that likely gunna be completely cleared by later that night or morning. She's guaranteed to get bloat when on abx so I wait it out and unless it's not cleared in two days I avoid taking her to the vets for abx.

Do any of your pigs do this? I always hear "it's highly unlikely a go will recover from a uri without help" but Luna seems to prove this wrong on a fortnightly basis, so she baffles me.
Any insight would be helpful. :)

It could be related to her environment, what is she bedded on again?

Is the hooting ever followed by a cough? is her breathing ever laboured? It does sound very nasal. You could ask the vet about an antihistamine like Piriton which would rule out allergies?

She's bedded on fleece that I wash at 60 without any washing powder or anything.
Nope, she never coughs and her breathing is never laboured. About a year ago, a few months after I got her, I got her a full mot to get her lungs, heart, kidneys and bladder looked at properly cause I knew something wasn't right with her and pebble was convinced she was a heart pig, but the vet found nothing except her fractured pelvis.
Allergies sounds like a really good bet actually. I need to get her to the vets soon for a manicure cause her paws are really deformed her nails are embedded into her pads, so I can't safely cut them myself. I'll speak to the vet about an antihistamine then. Is piriton a human allergy pill?

I remember now. Yes a human one but usually the liquid version which is the children's one.

One of our guinea's was just diagnosed with an allergy, he was congested, no coughing or anything, just sounded like he was "clicking" when you listened to his chest and he had a bit of a runny nose. The vet gave him Septrin and ermm I've forgotten the name of it but it's like metacam.

I think it was with I changed to a Timothy hay, it was very dusty and even made my allergies flare up.

Was going to say heart as my heart pig sounds nasaly and worse when she eats and grooms, but u had that investigated. Id second the allergies theory :) hope she picks up soon xx

She does have a lot of heart symptoms. She's a little oddity, lol.
The vet said the grunting hooty sounds were pain when she's moving about because of her pelvis, which isn't true. The only problems her pelvis gives her is she has quite spread out back legs and walks with a flappy waddle and needs Metacam on colder days because she does get a bit stiff and sore then. But that's it.
She was hooting away last night and this morning she's fresh as a daisy. I'll deffo look into getting the piriton. It would be great to catch it early and never have to give her abx, I'm a nervous wreck waiting for her to get bloat. She didn't poop for three whole days the last time. I was never so excited to see a pile of poop in my life lol
