THANKYOU EVERYONE XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX wheeeeeky kisses from Velvet xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Velvet ended up not going to the vets, he's busy with conference.....
But i described everything and because i've been thru this before and have the baytril they're happy for me to treat her.

She's a wonderful patient....... just sits there and takes her medicine (screws up her face tho) and then waits for her little drink of water straight afterwards and a tiny treat of bok choy :)
She hasn't lost any weight rolleyes and she's happy as usual.
I'd say i must've caught it literally not long after she started wheezing PHEW!

p.s. Onyx has improved in last day or so and is 1100g :) and normal poops!

Healing Wishes and Wheeeeks For Velvet

What are you doing for her Glynis? looks like Maisie's got the same and I'd like to be sure I'm doing the right things @)

Baytril 0.04ml twice a day and then probiotics ..... probiotics need to be taken either before or after the antibiotics i make sure it's at least 2hrs!
Keeping her warm, she tends to sleep out in the open, it's about 17 degrees C in their workshop, which is fine, but i'm draping two little blankies (their specially names blankies) over the top of their house just to keep a bit more warmth in.

I also whenever getting her up for meds etc.. listen into her chest/tummy. If i thought there was any worsening i'd be onto the vets pronto.

GOOD LUCK AND HEALING VIBES FOR LITTLE MAISIE XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Wonderful news about Onyx.

Hopefully Velvet will be on the mend soon as you have caught it early.

Can't believe how good Velvet is about taking her meds! If it isn't something green or orange I can't get anything into my boys' mouths without a struggle.

Thanks x>>

Both the girls grew up from a young age taking the syringe..... firstly it was just water, then i introduced cranberry juice. I did this because i went thru hell trying to syringe feed our boy Duke the first time around! (it took me weeks for him to learn about syringes!)
So now it's pretty easy for them to accept that syringes aren't always full of yukky stuff :)

Thanks x>>

That is a good tip to start them from young. I am going to start that with my 2 boys. Do you dilute the cranberry juice and in what proprotions? I remember reading somewhere that cranberry juice is good for piggies both for vit C content and helping prvent UTIs.

Lots of love and kisses to Onyx and Velvet from Misty and me xoxoxoxoxoxo

Well at first i diluted roughly......... but then when i found out Velvet was diabetic i had to be uber careful so cut it out at first and now i give around 4 drops of cranberry in 20ml of water.

I'd start and give them just a few drops (as long as you don't mind buying the bottle for you to drink........make sure it's the LIGHT cranberry juice tho) in say 15-20 mils water and offer just a few mils each. It's also handy to be able to dip the syringe into a drop of cranberry after you've sucked up antibiotics too........hides the initial taste (sneaky eh)

Well Velvet seems back to her usual floofy self and noming for OZ when i left for work! x)x) er she hasn't lost one ickle gram at all :))

sadly Onyx was mucky and i had to medicate her again.... they can't seem to find out what is wrong! mallethead

I wish they could figure it out love....... all the poop tests come back NEG for anything out of the ordinary mallethead
She is a little darling tho......... I'm' about to take off from work early now and get home to give her some pellet mushy and TLC x)

Oh no! Hope Onyx picks up soon. Ta for the cranberry dilution formula. I've already got the syringes!
