Very worried about new piggy HELP

I got my new piggy her fur looks like a porcupine ! lol but carla said there was some problems with her fur growing and the little lass has two bald patches she was using germoline (?) which has made the fur look a little tattered. She has small kids and I'm thinking maybe they did something to her? I was just going to leave her and say I'll come back when she's sorted but I was terrified incase they actually had done something and I want to help the poor little thing. I'm thinking about giving her a bath to wash out all the germoline. Anyone that can give me some advice?

Could it be mites because piggys often get bald patches with mites? Is she scratching at all?/

Not that I have noticed I looked at her and can't see any scabs and none of the other litter had this problem

Mites look like dandruff. Where are the bald patches? Could it be like rosettes and the fur is missing because of that? A pic would help really. :) hope she is ok. :)

One is on one side of her and the other is at her back I'll get pics asap

hmm, it could be mites or could be a fungal infection on the piggy - i think the best thing to do would take the piggy to the vet for a check up - and show these spots

or even email chrissy at gorgeous guineas which piccies- she may be able to determine what it is.

If you are ever unsure always take your piggy to the vet. ALthough we all have piggies, have for years and have our experience, you should never take our advice as the answer to the problem.

Have you piccies x

yeah it's just I don't have the money right now for vets and it should be the breeder who is paying out for vet bills :)>>>:)>>>I didnt realise the condition of the piggy when she handed it over I didn't see how bad it was I'm so ****** off she sold me this little girl in this state

when you have pets their health should never suffer - you should make sure you have money aside for such eventualities I'm afraid.

get some piccies on here, we shall see if we can help see what it is x

It's just you don't expect a problem the first day you get the little guys you know? I might just take it back to Jimmy (my boss) and say to give it back to her because the wee thing is in a state. God love her :(

dont give up on her. When i got Scruffy he was covered in lice and had to go to vets 3 times in first few weeks - i didnt care though cos i wantd to make sure he was well!

dont give up on her, if you pass her back, she may not get the help she needs.

True it's just that I'm so annoied because I shouldn't be paying these vet bills! She should! She's been using bloody germoline !

I agree don't give her back. At the end of the day, it isn't this little piggies fault that she has this problem and she's better off being with you than someone who let her get in to this state in the first place. Don't give up on her x

I would get her to the vet, it could just be stress but she does need looking at. I wouldn't return her, I know vet fees are expensive but by returning her she will only get stressed out further.

hmm from looking at it the piccies i would visit a vet as i suggested in the first place. Ask if your mum wont mind lending you the money - its important you get her checked. xx

I know...I'm just soooo unbeliveably worried and annoiedd!
Will I just give her a bath? To wash the germoline off for a start

how old is she?

Yes give her a bath to get the germoline out? you may need to use piggy shampoo because germoline is greasy and warm water wont get it out.

I'm begining to think she is too young to be away from her mum I dont know what age she is but she is tiny. Omg I'm going to cry the poor little thing

just focus on getting her better, get her washed gently and book an appointment at vets for her.

keep us updated Kerry x

Kerry she sounds very young. I would get her to the vet as soon as possible.

194g is not very big - did they tell you how old she was or her date of birth? She sounds very little to have been sent to a new home. Don't panic - have you seen her eat dry food and veg, have you seen her drink?

I usually wouldn't home a baby pig until it was 5-6 weeks old (if living indoors) or older if going outside in a shed, and not at that weight.

Don't worry, I'm sure she'll be fine, is she living on her own?
