As some of you are aware, Connie is at the vets at 8.30 this morning for an x ray to see if she has a bladder stone :( If she doesn't, she will be having her bladder flushed. I have to leave my baby there all day and I have to go to work this afternoon :( Please send healing vibes her way. The last time we went through this, Eliza was very quiet being by herself too xx

Thinking of you Claire and Connie!

I really hope you get to the bottom of all this soon.

Can you not take Eliza in with Connie? Mine always take a cagemate if they are staying all day at the vets. Simon actually encourages it. It's going to be a long day for you!

Oh, it's horrible when you have to leave your babies at the vets all day. It will be a worry for you :... Will the vets ring you with the results during the day?

My manly quintet are sending lots |& lots of healing hugs & squeaks to Connie.xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>

They are also sending lots of hugs & squeaks to you & Eliza x>>

Let us know the results when you have them & I hope today won't be too horrible for you

love

Michele, Susie the dog & my boys (again!
xx

Lots of healing vibes for little Connie, Claire, she's been through so much (and of course, so have you). I agree with Debbie, can't you take Eliza with her, I always took two when one needed a vet visit.

Hope things go well for little Connie at the vets today - fingers are crossed! :)

I never thought about taking Eliza :( She's with me at the minute sulking. Connie was good in the car. She just sat in the carrier eating poops. I'm missing her already and she's only been gone just under an hour :(

All the best for sweet Connie from me xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>
awwwwww of course you're both missing her... :(
Lots of hugs for you too love xx>>>xx>>>, the waiting is the pits, but keep cuddling Eliza and chatting to her before you have to go to work.......i also usually call vets early rolleyes for an update no matter what :)

Oh Claire, I know what you are going through, and I hope it is not a bladder stone. I am sending (((hugs))) to you all, and I hope that Connie is ok when she comes home. What time are you due to pick her up?:(

Unfortunately I have to work this afternoon as I had to change my hours around due to taking her in this morning :( so Chris is picking her up on his way home from work. Depending on how she is, he can pick her up before 6 when they close. The vet hasn't rang back yet and my nails are getting shorter by the minute :(

Good luck Claire, thinking of you, Connie and Eliza today. Let us know soon as you hear anything. :) x

i've just read this thread, claire, i'm thinking of you all. sonny says to send his love to his lovely girlfriends and wants them both to be in working order asap! LOL! typical man - hey? seriously though, we're crossing our fingers and claws for you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Update

I have just been in tears for the last hour as there was some bad news about Connie. The vet rang me to say that Connie's abdaman looked really abnormal on the x ray and she feared it was full of tumours. She basically asked my permission not to wake Connie up again if this was confirmed which I had to agree with. The half an hour wait was just awful. Luckily, it turns out that her bladder was full of grit and sludge so she has had her bladder flushed. Also, no stones were found. She has came out of the anestetic well and so long as she eats and drinks normally this afternoon, I can pick her up at 4 o clock. I feel ill from a bad cold anyway and the stress was too much so I have ended up phoning in sick at work x

oh honey, you had me in tears! she's a fighter, she's shown us that. so i'm sure she'll be ok xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Bloomin' 'eck! I can't imagine how stressed you must have been. So, the abnormal x-ray was caused by all the sludgey stuff in the bladder? Fingers crossed it sorts Connie out. x

OMG What an awful shock :( You must have been so terrified for Connie :( Thank god it was not what the vet first thought :) Hopefully she will start to get better after the bladder flush :) Thank god she has been such a strong girl for you :) Thinking of you both and I know you will feel better just as soon as she is back with you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

That's brilliant news. But how frightening for you. Sending you and Connie lots of love from all of us xx

Claire, this has all been such a nightmare for you - I hope now that Connie will be back to good health soon, and you too will start to feel better soon. Many hugs from here, I can't begin to imagine how awful you must've felt while waiting for that second phonecall. Please give Connie a little kiss from me when she's safely home.

Claire I don't know what to say, you have had an awful day, poor Connie must be feeling really poorly, they can't tell you how they feel and hide symptoms very well. I hope she hasn't been knocked around with the bladder flush, poor girl. Give her lots of cuddles and tempt her with her fav food when she gets back, cos I should imagine she will feel awful. Have you still got some metacam to give to her, if not ask Chris to pick some up from the vet. I really hope she gets well soon. xx

What a nightmare! I'm SOOO sorry! I've just come home, so I couldn't "vibe" earlier.

I'm so glad that it didn't turn as bad as it could have, and delighted that there was no stone. No wonder, she was so bad! Hopefully, Connie will feel a lot better when everything has calmed down.

Give Connie a cuddle from me with "a spoonful of metacam" to make her comfortable and then go and have a relaxing bath yourrself!

Lots of sympathy: @@@@
Lots of hugs: oooo
And a big kiss for Connie and Eliza: O

Thank you all :) Yes, waiting for that second phone call was the worst 30 minutes of my life. I really did expect her to phone and say that she had gone :(
Well, Connie is now home and been reunited with Eliza. She has had a big bowl of stir fry ad lots of hay. When I got to the vet, she was in a cage behind the desk at reception. Apparently she had been there all afternoon so they could keep an eye on her and they have all fell in love with her x)
I must say that the vet has done a fantastic job with her as the stitches and shaving have been done so neatly. This is the first time that my vet has done this sort of operation on a guinea pig but they both explained to me that it is the same procedure as with a cat and dog with less space to work with. They did offer to refer her to a specialist but I preferred to keep her where she is well known. The vet showed me the x ray and I can see why she first thought she might have tumors :o It was shocking. Apparently, her abdomen is really scarred and inflamed probably due to the crystals and infections. She was given Metacam at the vets so we have to continue with that and the Septrin from tomorrow. The vet wants to see her again in the morning to make sure that she is recovering well from the surgery.
Apart from Connie being a bit sleepy and sore, she seems quite well :) I just hope that she continues to improve xx
