I was shocked to hear what you wrote earlier & I can't even begin to imagine how you must have felt. 8... What a terrifying few minutes they must have been.

I am glad the vet was able to treat her though & let's hope she will continue to fight like she has done so far pow-powpow-powpow-pow

Give her and Eliza lots & lots of love & hugs tonight & let's hope the vet is pleased with her in the morning. My boys are sending more healing hugs & squeaks to all of you again xxxxx xx>>>xx>>>

Big relief! She should feel a lot better soon! I'm glad that you have such a good consicientious vet.

And well done operation scars usually heel astonishingly quickly and quite often disappear with only a trace left when you look very closely.

You all have a quiet and restful night now.

Speak to you tomorrow to see how Connie's gettin on.

So glad to hear Connie is now home Claire, what a stressful you have had.
Sending lots of kisses to your girls and speak to you tomorrow x

What a stressful day for you and poor Connie :...

I hope this is the end of Connies bladder problems and she will soon be fighting fit!

Sending healing wheeks to Connie, I am sorry to hear that she has had had so many problems with her health

I have just picked her up and I can't work out if she has been messing with the stitches as she left a tiny spot of blood on me :( Poor Connie is in a bit of pain today :(
After a forum member posted a thread the other day 'good vets and bad vets' I just want to make sure that this looks ok as I have never had an animal opened and stitched up before. I personally thought that the vet did a good job. I feel really sorry for her today. I held her like this to give her antibiotics, not just for the pic. I am sorry in advance if this photo offends anyone xx

Just got back from the vets and Connie has chewed one of her stitches already so had to be glued back together :( Apart from being sore, the vet is pleased with her as she is eating well and pooping. I have to take her back next Thursday with a urine sample x

Naughty Connie - the stitches are there to hold you together! But I'm glad the vet is pleased, Claire - that is such a relief for you, and now let's hope her progress will be sure and steady, so it's not long before she's restored to full health ..... and doesn't cause her mummy any more worries.

Your vet has done a very neat job indeed!

Soft poop is OK after an operation and will normalise after a day or two - as soon as Connie is feeling better and eating normally again.

Let Connie take it easy and let her sleep as much as she will, but keep as normal a day as possible once she shows signs of perking up! She'll probably feel raw for a day or two, but as soon as her operation scars start heeling and she's not in pain anymore, she should be a lot livelier as she is now rid of the constant and agonising irritation in her bladder. You'll notice quite a difference!

Give the naughty patient a pet from me!

I hope that your cold is a bit better as well and that you are not feeling too washed out after all the drama! All the best to you two!

Love from me, Dizzy and Llewlyn xxxxxx

awwww Connie well done little one xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>
Oh sweetie you've been in shock.......this has really gone topsy turvy hasn't it, so so glad it looks like the little one is going to go ahead from now on xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>

Best wishes to Connie

Sorry I missed yesterday's events I've been ill too!
Things seem to be going well for Connie and I am so pleased. Out of interest how old is she Claire? I'm sure she's 'feelin the love'.

Thank you all. She is weeing normally no squeaking but is squeaking a bit when she has a poop. I am assuming that this is because of the soreness she must be in. Eliza keeps on licking Connie's 'bits' but I'm assuming that this is because she know's what an ordeal Connie has been through :( She is still very sleepy and a bit dozy. She is asleep on the stairs at the minute which she has never done before but I've decided to leave her there for a bit. She has a dried bit of glue stuck on her belly where the vet glued her back together this morning but I don't really want to mess x

Connie will be 2 sometime over the summer. We don't no her exact age but when we rescued her at the end of November 2007, she was 16 - 18 weeks old.

I've only just read this thread Claire, I'm so sorry to here what you and poor Connie have been through8...

It must have been an awful shock, but I'm so glad she has pulled through:)

Sending you both lots of Love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I'm sorry things were so stressful yesterday. Perhaps, if she is so prone to bladder sludge and crystals, it may be worth discussing with your vet the possibility of daily subcue fluids - administered by yourself (with apt training and instruction, of course!). This would essentially flush the bladder out naturally and routinely and prevent the sludge sitting for long enough to build up and cause harm again.

Bless her - she will be a proper sandman's pet today, and perhaps tomorrow. But it is a good sign that she is showing a bit of interest in life in between!

Her whole nether region is churned up, so pooping does hurt at first as well. But it is a good sign that her peeing is working OK and not troubling her - that is an enormous amount of pain already gone! The rest is all from the scarring and the operation and will settle in a couple of days.

Eliza knows that something has happened to Connie's bladder and urethra, and is just putting in her bit of nursing and healing - good girl!

You're doing absolutely right, so try not to worry too much!

I will mention this when I go back to the vets next week :)

It's quite cute to watch but Connie is far from impressed :)

I'm so pleased that Connie is home and snuggled up with Eliza. Naughty Connie for chewing your stitches - lol! Fingers crossed things calm down for Connie now :)

Connie hasn't chewed her stitches today :) She doesn't like to be handled though too much but I assume this is because she is really sore :( She did make a run for it up the stairs though as I was preparing her medication xx

Holly is in sympathy with Connie - they should compare stories together! :))Hope she's doing well today. x

I'm pleased to hear Connie's bits & pieces are starting to work again! That is great news!

Guineas are alwasy little tinkers when it comes to stitches. My 2nd pig Tycho had major surgery at 3 months old. I used to wrap him up like a sausage but he somehow managed to get out of them & remove 3 stitches! Fortunately it was day 3 after his op & the wound was healed, but boy did it give me a fright! :)):)):)) Connie is getting her own back on you! At least you know she is being a normal guinea pig!

My boys are sending healing hugs & squeaks her way again!

She did give me a fright yesterday because I picked her up and she was a little wet underneath and she left a spot of blood on me. I do hope she leaves well alone for now. The vet made me laugh when she said she'd have to staple a lampshade to her head if she didn't behave :))

Oh Connie i'm so so dam happy to hear you're NOT chewing your stitches this is one huge step forward :)
Sending you heaps of healing wheeeeeeks and loves from me xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
and pass on some to your mum as she's so stressed at mo :{
